Surrey kept the pressure on County Championship Division Two leaders Lancashire as they completed a six-wicket win against Kent.

The home side resumed on 4-1 on the final morning at The Oval, 121 short of their target, and they got there without the need for a lunch break to move to within eight points of Lancashire.

Ben Foakes' unbeaten 57 saw Surrey over the line with little fuss, although the early loss of Kumar Sangakkara briefly threatened to halt their victory procession.

The Sri Lanka great scored a hundred in the first innings but managed just a single run before he was stumped by Sam Billings to give James Tredwell a second wicket.

Two became three when Rory Burns was bowled by the England off-spinner four short of a half-century, and Tredwell's safe hands at leg-slip then gave Joe Denly the wicket of Arun Harinath.

But the job was all-but done by then, and Foakes finished it off with a third boundary to go with three maximums.

Kent remain second-bottom having won just twice in this season's Championship.
