England bowler Stuart Broad to undergo ankle scan

Stuart Broad is to undergo a second scan on a left ankle injury which saw him withdraw from Nottinghamshire's clash with Yorkshire on Tuesday.

The England seamer was due to make a rare Championship appearance for the Division One strugglers, but was withdrawn on the advice of England and Wales Cricket Board.

England paceman to play in the T20 Big Bash this winter

Broad, who has signed to play for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League this winter, featured for his county in Saturday's NatWest T20 Blast semi-final against eventual winners Northamptonshire, but bowled just two wicketless overs.

Having had an initial scan, Broad will now undergo a follow-up scan to determine the seriousness of the problem, with the result expected by the end of the week.

The 30-year-old is not part of England's white-ball teams at present, and was not named in the one-day squad to face Pakistan in a five-match series starting on Wednesday.
