Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire managed just 9.3 overs on day two of their LV= County Championship Division One match at Headingley.

The White Rose county were able to add 24 runs to their overnight total of 52-2 before the players were forced off the field due to bad light after less than an hour of action.

The rain then began to fall and although it seemed a resumption might be possible at one stage in the afternoon, umpires Martin Saggers and Alex Wharf called play off for the day due to a saturated outfield at 3.40pm.

Jack Leaning and home skipper Andrew Gale will resume on 35 and 23 not out respectively on day three; Yorkshire had already claimed maximum bowling points by dismissing Nottinghamshire for 205.

Ed Joyce completed his fourth century of the season and Steve Magoffin took 6-60 but Somerset still fought back to claim a first-innings lead in their clash against Sussex.
