Andre Adams was in fine form as Nottinghamshire dominated the first day of their Division One match against Lancashire at Aigburth.
The New Zealand veteran, who celebrates his 39th birthday on Thursday, took 4-45 and held a couple of catches as Glen Chapple's men were dismissed for 225 inside 70 overs.
He then watched from the pavilion as Nottinghamshire's top-order batsmen, led by Steven Mullaney's 48 not out, replied with 69-1 by close of play.
