Nottinghamshire assumed total control on day two of their Specsavers County Championship match against Glamorgan at the SSE Swalec in Cardiff.

Having reached 448 all out with the bat, thanks to half centuries from Chris Read and Brett Hutton, they bowled out Glamorgan for 187 and will choose overnight whether or not to enforce the follow on.

Notts took less than eight overs to make the initial breakthrough. Luke Fletcher, bowling from the River End, had Nick Selman caught behind by stand-in wicket keeper Rikki Wessels for seven. Thereafter, Glamorgan lost wickets at regular intervals.

Will Bragg ran himself out for five at 20-2 and though the host county were only two wickets down at tea, their plight worsened.

Colin Ingram departed for nine, caught by Steven Mullaney off Hutton at 47-3, before captain Jacques Rudolph (25) edged Gurney to Wessels at 51-4.

David Lloyd (34) and Aneurin Donald (53) batted with a degree of aggression and application to take the Welsh county past the 100 mark in the 34th over, but couldn't stop Notts taking a first-innings lead of 261.

Nathan Lyon claimed his first Specsavers County Championship wicket but it was another frustrating day for Derbyshire and Worcestershire in the Division Two match at Derby.

The Australian Test off-spinner removed Derbyshire's Alex Hughes for 53 before a storm forced play to be abandoned at 5pm.

Luis Reece had top-scored with 54 before he and Billy Godleman (19) were dismissed in the space of 10 balls early on the second morning, but Hughes (53) and Daryn Smit (27no) added 78 in 21 overs to take the hosts to 200-6

Rain continued to blight the match between Leicestershire and Kent. Only 47.3 overs were possible on the second day at the Fischer County Ground, after the first day was entirely washed out.

Paul Horton and Harry Dearden compiled an opening partnership of 58 for the Foxes before the experienced Horton, who had hit nine boundaries in going to 48, was given leg before on the front foot to a Darren Stevens which seamed back in to the right-hander.

Dearden, who took 26 overs to reach double figures, was beginning to bat with much more fluency when the 20-year-old left-hander drove loosely at Matt Coles coming in around the wicket, and was bowled through the gate.

He and Colin Ackermann had added 55 for the second wicket, however, and having been dropped by wicket-keeper Adam Rouse diving to his right on nine off Coles, Ackermann had moved on to 31 when the rain returned.

After sterling work by the ground staff, the players did return to the field at 5.45pm, and in the 4.3 overs that were possible before the weather closed in for the final time, Ackermann was again dropped by Rouse, this time off Matt Hunn, a waist-high chance diving in front of Matt Coles at first slip.
