Ben Coad completed a 10-wicket haul as Yorkshire wrapped up a 164-run win over Nottinghamshire early on day four in their Specsavers County Championship match.

SCORECARD

Coad (6-81) dismissed Jake Ball (30) and Harry Gurney (0) as Nottinghamshire, who began the morning on 181-8, were all out for 238 in their second innings in the Division One clash at Headingley.

Ball and Tom Moores (40no) frustrated Yorkshire by extending their ninth-wicket stand to 66 but Coad - who took 4-49 in Notts' first innings - ended that alliance by bowling Ball on the drive.

The 24-year-old had Gurney caught at second slip two deliveries later as Yorkshire earned a first victory of the campaign, following their washout at home to Essex last week, and moved top of the table.

Nottinghamshire have now won one and lost one after defeating Yorkshire's Roses rivals Lancashire in their opening fixture at Old Trafford, a game which saw 12 wickets fall in 15.2 overs on the final morning.

Sam Northeast hit a superb hundred for Hampshire but it couldn't quite prevent them slipping to a 139-run defeat to Surrey on the final day of their game at The Oval.

Northeast was the final wicket to fall, shortly after tea - out caught behind, off Matt Dunn - having defied Surrey for 346 minutes for his 129 runs.

Surrey had seemed to be cruising to a routine win when reducing Hampshire - who started the day 116-4, having been set 472 to win - to 245-8, with 19-year-old offspinner Amar Virdi taking 4-79.

But, the final two wickets proved difficult to prize out - Northeast and Brad Wheal (10) first denying their hosts for 20 overs and then the Hampshire centurion and Fidel Edwards (5no) for a further 10 before up stepped Dunn.

In Division Two, it was a similar story for Derbyshire, who were made to wait even longer to finally clinch a 101-run victory over Middlesex at home.

SCORECARD

Lower-order runs from the likes of Paul Stirling (42), James Harris (64no), Toby Roland-Jones (46) and Tom Helm (52) delayed Derbyshire's charge, after they earlier reduced Middlesex to 95-5.

South African overseas signing Duanne Olivier (4-82) took the final wicket, his fourth of the innings and eighth of the match, bowling Tim Murtagh.

Glamorgan too were made to work hard for their final-day six-wicket win over Gloucestershire in Bristol, left to chase 84 to win in the dying overs.

SCORECARD

Gloucestershire begin the day 133-5, still some 155 runs behind, but 20-year-old James Bracey (120no) scored a battling, unbeaten century to help the home side not only into the lead, but also take time out of the game, as he used up 448 minutes at the crease.

Bracey received invaluable support too from Ryan Higgins (61), Daniel Worrall (50) and Matt Taylor (48) but ultimately ran out of partners, allowing Glamorgan just enough time to chase down a target.

The visitors lost four cheap wickets in pursuit of quick runs, but ultimately got the 84 they required in 12.5 overs to clinch a dramatic win.

Meanwhile. Luke Wells scored a century on the final day as Sussex drew a second successive game to start the season as their game with Leicestershire at Grace Road ended in a stalemate.

SCORECARD

Sussex started the final day 11-0, leading by 27, but didn't look at any point for a declaration and to set their hosts a testing target, instead batting out the day to finish 241-4 when stumps was called early, shortly after Wells reached his hundred.
