Leicestershire skipper Matthew Hoggard has signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him at the Foxes until the end of the 2013 season.
The former England bowler joined the Grace Road outfit at the end of 2009 after being released by home county Yorkshire and was immediately given the captaincy.
He has impressed since his move and despite the county finishing bottom of the LV= County Championship Division Two last year, Hoggard led Leicestershire to a surprise triumph in the Friends Life t20.
The 35-year-old, who took 248 wickets in 67 Tests for England, is currently out of action after injuring his non-bowling hand last month, but is ecstatic with his new contract.
He said: "I am delighted to extend my contract with Leicestershire. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to continuing at the club.
"We have some talented youngsters here and I am excited about the prospect of their development over the next two years.
"These are vibrant times at the club and I am pleased to be a part of what is happening at Grace Road."
Chief executive Mike Siddall added: "Matthew has been an inspiration both on and off the field since he joined us and I am delighted that he will be around for a further season."
