YORKSHIRE v SURREY SCORECARD

The Division One leaders completed a fifth win from seven matches this summer shortly after lunch as they chased a target of 228 with comfort, having started the day on 89 without loss.

While Surrey lead the way at the halfway stage of the season, Yorkshire's focus in the second half of the campaign will be on remaining in the top flight.

Joe Clarke's brilliant century salvaged a draw for Worcestershire in their day-night clash with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Clarke batted for over five hours to defy a Notts attack that was missing Stuart Broad, who did not return to the field for the last two sessions.

The 22-year old finished with an unbeaten 177, his third ton of the season, as the hosts fell two wickets short of victory.

Clarke was supported in partnerships of over an hour by Ben Cox, Ross Whiteley and Ben Twohig, who made a career-best 35 as Luke Fletcher (3-54) and Harry Gurney (3-91) could not force victory for their side. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE v WORCESTERSHIRE SCORECARD

Tom Abell and Lewis Gregory defied Essex for more than an hour-and-a-half in deteriorating light to secure Somerset a draw in the day-night match at Chelmsford.

The sixth-wicket pair came together after Somerset had lost three wickets in 11 balls to collapse to 116-5 with just 20 of their 50-over allocation used up.

But they put on a masterclass of patient, defensive batting with Abell finishing on 21 from 89 deliveries and the limpet-like Gregory with a 90-ball 15 before the captains shook hands with Somerset 151-5 in pursuit of 319.

The draw enabled Essex to move five points behind third-placed Somerset, who in turn are 32 adrift of leaders Surrey. ESSEX v SOMERSET SCORECARD

Joe Weatherley struck a maiden first-class century as Lancashire and Hampshire played out a high-scoring draw at Old Trafford.

The players shook hands at 4.50pm to confirm the result when the visitors declared on 237-5 in their second innings, leading by 277, with opener Weatherley batting the whole day for an unbeaten 126 off 260 balls.

This draw meant the pair leapfrogged Yorkshire to leave the White Rose second bottom in Division One. LANCASHIRE v HAMPSHIRE SCORECARD

Northamptonshire needed just 33 overs of the final day to take the last six Glamorgan wickets and complete a 233-run victory in Cardiff.

A second successive win took Northants off the foot of the Division Two table but the hosts have now lost four of their last five four-day games, having only won one of eight Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures.

Glamorgan were again let down by their batting, with Usman Khawaja's first-innings century their only score above 40 in the match, and they were bowled out for 200 in their second innings. GLAMORGAN v NORTHANTS SCORECARD

Warwickshire moved back to the top of the Division Two table after recording a comfortable 86-run win over Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Jeetan Patel was the star man for his side in the second innings as he took the 32nd five-wicket haul of his career, ending with figures of 6-83, as the hosts were bowled out for 226.

Durham were left to rue batting collapses from their middle order to slump to their second defeat on the spin.

The visitors got back to winning ways in the championship after their defeat at Kent last week, clinching their fifth victory of the campaign to reclaim their place at the summit. DURHAM v WARWICKSHIRE SCORECARD
