Alastair Cook scored a magnificent double century to help England declare with an imposing first-innings total of 514 in Birmingham, although his latest opening partner - Mark Stoneman - managed just eight on his Test debut after replacing Keaton Jennings in the squad.

Stoneman will be handed another chance to impress when the two sides travel to Yorkshire for the second Test, which gets underway on Friday.
