Michael Lumb is hoping he and Craig Kieswetter can make an impact as England's new opening pair at the ICC World Twenty20.
The two international novices will get England's innings underway in the first warm-up match against Bangladesh on Wednesday, and Lumb is confident he and Kieswetter have what it takes to set the tone for his side's campaign.
The pair showed their potential for England Lions in Abu Dhabi two months ago, with Lumb striking two boundaries from the last two balls to see off the England first team.
Fast-tracked
Kieswetter, meanwhile, was fast-tracked into the England one-day international side and, following his century against Bangladesh in Chittagong, replaced Matt Prior as their Twenty20 wicketkeeper-batsman.
"Craig and I made a partnership out in Dubai and did nicely," said Lumb.
"I've known him for a while. He's a good, aggressive player - and we get on well, which helps.
"We complement each other, left-hand and right-hand. I think it's a good combination.
"It's worked with the Lions. We hope it can work again with England."
Neither Lumb nor Kieswetter were able to take control of the bowlers on Tuesday as England ran through Twenty20 match scenarios, but the former was not disheartened by his own display.
"Yes, there's pressure. But that's the game - you've just got to get on with it," added Lumb.
"I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I can't wait now. It's so nice to get an opportunity, and something I've been looking forward to for years."
Lumb did manage to end a tough day on a high note, clearing the ropes in a six-hitting throw-down competition at the end of practice.
Highlight
"I think the bowlers were one up on the batters today," he said.
"The wicket was a bit sticky and was turning a bit, and the bowlers made it quite hard for us.
"I think definitely the six-hitting at the end was the highlight of the day, for me anyway."
