Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq is adamant his side are playing well enough to defeat England in the upcoming Test series in the United Arab Emirates.
Misbah boasts a fine record as Test skipper, claiming six wins, six draws and suffering only one loss in his 13 matches in charge.
But Andrew Strauss brings his world number one-ranked side to the Middle East full of confidence too, having won eight of their last nine Test series home and away.
And Misbah is expecting a tough, yet winnable, examination against England when play gets under way in Dubai on January 17.
"The series against England is important as well as very tough," Misbah told reporters.
"England is the world's best Test team but in current form we can beat any team if we keep the good form and co-ordination which we showed this year."
Pakistan, who continue to play international cricket away from home due to security reasons, returned home on Friday after whitewashing Bangladesh in two Twenty20s, three one-day internationals and two Tests.
They now take on England over three Tests, four ODIs and three Twenty20 matches and Misbah believes there is plenty of work to be done ahead of the series.
"Despite achieving some good results we still need to overcome some of the mistakes which we committed and the management as well as the players are determined to overcome them because England will be really tough," he added.
"Our targets on the Bangladesh tour were to keep consistency in our performance, overcome some of the mistakes and improve our rankings and that we achieved.
"The best part about this team is that we have good coordination among the seniors and juniors, the support staff is helping players and each and every player realises his duty and that will help us against England.
