Yorkshire batsman collects enough points for ECB deal

Yorkshire batsman Jonny Bairstow has earned an increment contract from the England and Wales Cricket Board for 2011-12. Bairstow, 22, received the award after making his Test debut against West Indies at Lord's earlier in May. He has also made nine limited-overs appearances for his country since the qualifying period started in October. Non-contracted players can earn an England increment contract via a points system. Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or ODI appearance, with an increment deal being awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month qualifying period. "This award reflects the contribution Jonny has made both to the limited overs squads and more recently to the Test team and we congratulate him on his achievement," said ECB national selector Geoff Miller.
