Bairstow and Buttler in contention to replace England batsman

England batsman Jonathan Trott has been ruled out of the final one-day international against South Africa at Trent Bridge on Wednesday with a hand injury. Trott was hit on the right hand by a short ball from Dale Steyn in England's six-wicket victory at Lord's on Sunday, but was yesterday cleared of any "major fracture" after an X-ray. The number three played no part in practice in Nottingham on Tuesday and the England and Wales Cricket Board this afternoon confirmed he will be absent from the series decider. Somerset batsman Jos Buttler was called into the squad as cover on Monday but Jonathan Bairstow is a more likely candidate to play his first match of a series England lead 2-1.
