Nick Compton makes his Test debut for England against India in Ahmedabad
England have picked Samit Patel instead of Monty Panesar for the first Test against India in Ahmedabad.

All-rounder Patel has been given the nod for the series opener after some impressive performances, particularly with the bat, so far on the tour.
It means he will provide the second spinning option for the tourists to back up his Nottinghamshire team-mate Graeme Swann, who has only recently rejoined the party after a dash home to see his sick daughter.
As expected, Tim Bresnan has been selected as the third seamer in the absence of the injured Steven Finn, who was ruled out on Wednesday.
Stuart Broad is fit to play in what is Alastair Cook's first Test since taking over the captaincy from Andrew Strauss. Nick Compton makes his debut as Strauss' replacement at the top of the order.
The new skipper suffered an early setback, though, when he lost the toss. India counterpart Mahendra Singh Dhoni had no hesitation in choosing to bat first on a surface that already looks dry.
The hosts have recalled Yuvraj Singh to their middle order, while Umesh Yadav will share the seam duties with the experienced Zaheer Khan.
