Jonathan Trott revealed that his heated exchange with India's fielders on day four of the final Test in Nagpur only served to stiffen his resolve as he went on to register a century in their series-clinching draw on Monday.
Trott eventually departed for 143 with the all-important draw having long since been secured, sharing in a decisive 208-run partnership with Bell. England's number five acknowledged it had been nice to sign off from what had been a difficult tour for him personally with a substantial contribution, ending as he did on 116 not out. "It's been a tricky tour so it's nice to finish on a high, but the way the guys have played the whole series has been enjoyable to be a part of and it's nice to contribute today," Bell said. "I think Test cricket has been a little bit frustrating for me this year, I'd have liked to score more runs. But on the other side, the one-day cricket for me really took off. "I felt like I was playing quite well but just wasn't converting anything in Test matches which can sometimes happen, but it's nice to finish 2012 like this. There are more challenges ahead of us, some really good cricket and we're looking forward to it."
