Sri Lanka's Sachithra Senanayake has been fined 30% of his match appearance fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the opening T20 game against Australia.

The ICC confirmed the incident happened in the fifth over of Australia's innings on Tuesday, as after Senanayake bowled out David Warner, he made remarks which could have provoked a reaction from the Australian captain, according to the International Cricket Council.

Senanayake was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.8 of the code, which states "language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his dismissal during an international match".

The off-spinner admitted the offence and accepted the fine proposed by referee Javagal Srinath.
