Fast bowler Mitchell Starc says Australia have the 'personnel and talent' to win the five-match ODI series from 2-0 down, but need to execute the basics better

Australia bowler Mitchell Starc is convinced they can turn around their ODI series against England, despite trailing 2-0 with three to play.

England won the opening ODI in Melbourne by five wickets, before doubling their series advantage with a four-wicket win in Brisbane.

Despite Australia having struggled in the limited overs format after regaining The Ashes with a 4-0 series win in the Test arena, Starc feels they can win the next three ODIs to claim the series if they can get the basics right, starting in Sydney on Sunday.

"I think we've got the right formula, we have just got to get that performance together," said Starc.

"We have been off at the start of our bowling innings and we haven't put a full batting innings together, so I think it is about doing the basics and the execution right.

"We've definitely got the personnel and talent to do it, it's just the execution [that needs working on]. But with this group, we definitely haven't performed our best with bat and ball.

"We've got some work to do, every game in this series is a Grand Final now. We haven't played our best with bat and ball and I guess they have.

"It's a chance for us to get together, come to the SCG tomorrow and play some good cricket, and hopefully get ourselves back in the series."
