ODI series: James Pattinson omitted from Australia side to face England in Melbourne
Australia have omitted paceman James Pattinson from their side for the opening one-day international against England.

Pattinson was sent home from the tour of England last summer with a back injury but he has proved his fitness by taking seven wickets for the Melbourne Stars in three Big Bash League games recently.
With Mitchell Johnson rested following his Ashes heroics, the Australian pace attack will consist of Clint McKay, James Faulkner, Nathan Coulter-Nile and all-rounder Shane Watson.
Opening batsman Shane Marsh also misses out with Aaron Finch likely to partner David Warner at the top of the order.
Skipper Michael Clarke said: "It's just what we feel is the best XI for this first game.
"I think the wicket looks really good, we think it's going to be a little bit two paced. We think this is the best team for this first match.
"I don't know what the selectors said to James and I don't know why they decided to not pick him.
"But I think James certainly is realistic and understands that he's only been back bowling for a couple of weeks in regards to game practice.
"He's looking fit and I'm sure he'll play a big part throughout this series."

England (from): Cook (capt), Ballance, Bell, Bopara, Bresnan, Briggs, Buttler, Carberry, Finn, Jordan, Morgan, Rankin, Root, Stokes, Tredwell, Woakes.
