England spinner Graeme Swann could be a key player in the series and Strauss, who captained the team to victory in the last two Ashes, hopes the wickets will be set up accordingly.
"England are looking for wickets to deteriorate at the backend," he told Sky Sports.
"I don't think they are looking for wickets that make the toss an important factor, just a fair wicket that gives you just as much chance if you lose the toss.
"They know they've got the advantage in the spin department, they know the Aussie left-handers struggled in India.
"But I don't think they want minefields, there'll still be something in it for the seamers, but the side with the more balanced bowling attack will win the majoirity of the games."
