The pick of the action from the third day of the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston

England are 2-1 up in the Ashes with two Tests to play after completing a rapid-fire eight-wicket victory over Australia inside three days at Edgbaston.

The game was as good as up for the tourists after a disastrous opening couple of days – Michael Clarke’s side effectively 23-7 in their second innings when play got underway.

Australia's tail did wag in the morning session – but England were still only left requiring 121 to win.

Click on the video above to check out the best of the action from the day, which began well enough for the visitors as Peter Nevill and Mitchell Starc survived the first half-hour.

However, Steven Finn grabbed his sixth wicket of the innings to break the stand when Nevill tickled a catch down the leg-side, Jos Buttler grabbing the chance.

Starc played his shots to surge past fifty and Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon chipped in to give the Ashes holders hope of pulling off a shock win.

England duo Alastair Cook and Adam Lyth safely negotiated two overs before lunch but fell soon afterwards, England’s skipper castled by a beauty from Starc before his opening partner was trapped lbw by Josh Hazlewood.

Ian Bell followed up his first-innings fifty with another half-century – but only after he’d been missed at slip by Clarke – and together with Joe Root saw England across the line for no further loss.
