The Aussies totalled an imposing 259-7 from their 50 overs, Jess Cameron top scoring with 75 from 76 balls, and they then bowled West Indies out for just 145 to claim the World Cup for a record sixth time.
Fields, who made 36 not out herself, said: "We dominated the game. We batted well and then had some good bowling efforts.
"We spoke a lot about coming into this match and dominating, and I think we did that. What else can you ask for?
"It was smart batting by Meg (Lanning, who made 31), Jess Cameron and Rachael Haynes (52)."
West Indies skipper Merissa Aguilleira top-scored for her team but she only made 23 and the West Indies lost their way after reaching 32-0.
Aguilleira said: "We really have to give it to Australia as they played good cricket throughout the tournament. We played good cricket to reach here."
