India are reported to have asked for their schedule to be trimmed so that they could return to the sub-continent in time to compete in the Asia Cup.
They were orginally contracted to play three Tests, five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international in February and March.
But with the Asia Cup starting in late February, New Zealand Cricket have agreed to knock one Test and the Twenty20 clash off the itinerary.
India's first tour to New Zealand since 2009 will now begin on January 19, with the final one-day international taking place on February 28.
NZC chief executive David White admitted last month that discussions with the Board of Cricket Control for India over the tour "have taken longer than we hoped".
In a brief statement on Monday, White said: "It's brilliant that the Black Caps will be playing five ODIs against the world's top one-day side given the proximity of Cricket World Cup in 2015."
White did not reveal whether the NZC would receive any compensation from the BCCI to cover any loss in revenue.
