Pakistan left-arm spinner Imad Wasim took a career best 5-14 to help Pakistan defeat world Twenty20 champions West Indies by nine wickets in Dubai on Friday.
West Indies managed just 115 in 19.5 overs, with Pakistan easing to their victory target after 14.2 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Dwayne Bravo hit a gritty half-century to offer the tourists some hope, adding a new world record international T20 stand of 66 runs for the ninth wicket with Jerome Taylor (21).
Bravo scored a 54-ball 55 to lift his side from 48-8 in 11.3 overs before being bowled off the penultimate ball of the innings.
Pakistan lost opener Sharjeel Khan for 22 in the fourth over of their reply but Babar Zaman (55 not out) and Khalid Latif (34 not out) ensured the target was comfortably chased down.
Babar hit two consecutive fours to bring up the victory, smashing two sixes and six fours in his 37-ball knock.
West Indies don't have to wait long for their chance to level the series, however, with the sides meeting again at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
