After batting first and making 205 - all out off the first ball of the final over - Pakistan were no match for the hosts who secured a comfortable victory with 36 deliveries outstanding.
The result sealed the five-match one-day series for South Africa 3-2, with AB de Villiers hitting an unbeaten 95 to collect both the man of the match and player of the series awards for his efforts.
But Misbah said: "It was certainly a 250 pitch. Again we didn't show responsibility on the batting side. But they were the better side on the day.
"We would have really enjoyed it if we had won this one but still it was a good series."
Triumphant captain de Villiers faced 111 deliveries and ended the five-match series with an average of 91.75.
Yet he played down his own efforts: "It was a great team effort, through and through.
"We got some partnerships together with bat and ball.
"I am in good form at the moment but I am still not probably timing it as well as I'd like to."
