Kohli and Ojha called up as India's injury problems mount

India have suffered a double blow ahead of the third Test against England as both Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh have been ruled out of the remainder of the series. Harbhajan faces three weeks on the sidelines with a grade one abdominal strain picked up during the 319-run second-Test loss at Trent Bridge, while Yuvraj is out for a month after fracturing his left index finger batting in the same match. Batsman Virat Kohli and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha have been called up by the tourists, who trail 2-0 in the four-match series and will surrender their world number one ranking to England with another defeat in the third Test at Edgbaston next week. "Yuvraj Singh has fractured his left index finger, and Harbhajan Singh has an abdominal muscle strain," read a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. "While Yuvraj Singh's injury may take around four weeks to recover, Harbhajan Singh is likely to recover in three weeks' time. "The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked Virat Kohli and Pragyan Ojha as their replacements. Both players will join the Indian team at the earliest opportunity." India have a two-day warm-up fixture against Northamptonshire, starting on Friday, before the third Test gets under way at Edgbaston on August 10. Opener Virender Sehwag is set to arrive after recovering from shoulder surgery and could play at Northampton, while India are waiting on the fitness of pace spearhead Zaheer Khan (hamstring) and top-order batsman Gautam Gambhir (elbow), who both sat out the Trent Bridge defeat.
