Daniel Vettori expects New Zealand to bounce back from the emphatic 210-run defeat to England at Edgbaston on Tuesday.
The Kiwis conceded their highest ever One Day International score as quick-fire centuries from Joe Root and Jos Buttler saw England set an imposing target of 409, which New Zealand failed to chase.
Vettori did not watch Tuesday’s game but the former New Zealand captain insists the dressing room is full of characters who will not dwell on the loss for long.
"It's hard to read too much into a scorecard but sit back and say that Root and Buttler must have played exceptionally well," he said.
"New Zealand had to be aggressive to try and chase it down but just to hear about Root and Buttler's hundreds off 71 and 66 balls is pretty impressive.
"But New Zealand have been confident in their abilities to turn it around relatively quickly. It's the nature of cricket, these days, that you get an opportunity to play again soon and rectify or continue on with what you've been doing.

The defeat to England was New Zealand's first ODI following the international retirement of Vettori, who took 305 wickets in 295 appearances, for his country.
It has already been suggested that New Zealand are missing the talents of Vettori, but the 36-year-old preferred to highlight the potential of his replacement and fellow left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner.
"Once you retire, you move on and get on with it, there's no point in living like that," Vettori said.
"Mitch Santner, who's a guy I know really well as we played together domestically, has got a really bright future for New Zealand, not only as a bowler but as a batter.
"We've got some high expectations of him doing well and fulfilling that role."
