AB de Villiers smashed an ODI-best 176 in his first international innings since June

His last international innings may have been almost four months ago, but AB de Villiers looked anything but rusty as he returned to the crease during the second ODI between South Africa and Bangladesh.

The former Proteas skipper came to the middle with South Africa 90-2 after 18 overs, a positive start offset by two wickets in an over for Shakib Al Hasan.

However, when he departed a little under 30 overs later, that wobble had long since been forgotten. De Villiers blasted 15 fours and seven sixes in an incredible knock of 176 from 104 deliveries - a career best in one-day international cricket for the South African.

The Bangladesh bowlers had no response to De Villiers' onslaught as he powered the hosts over 300 before he was finally dismissed, caught at deep midwicket, in the 48th over, just 12 runs shy of Gary Kirsten's South Africa ODI record, set back in 1996 against the UAE.

De Villiers' knock propelled South Africa to a mammoth 353-6, with Bangladesh only able to muster 249 in reply - The Tigers' 104-run reverse seeing them fall 2-0 down in the three-match series.
