Tillakaratne Dilshan will captain Sri Lanka at the triangular one-day international series in Zimbabwe after the selectors opted to rest several senior players.
Regular skipper Kumar Sangakkara, batsmen Mahela Jayawardene and Sanath Jayasuriya and paceman Lasith Malinga have all been left out of a 15-man squad for the May 28-June 9 event, which also involves the hosts and India.
Off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is not being risked after picking up a groin injury at the ICC World Twenty20.
All-rounder Jeewan Mendis, 27, is the only player in the party without previous international experience, although batsman Dinesh Chandimal has yet to play a one-day international.
Opener Upul Tharanga, middle-order batsman Chamara Silva and fast bowler Dilhara Fernando are all recalled after missing the World T20 in the Caribbean, where Sri Lanka lost to England in the semi-final.
Experienced batsman Dilshan, 33, has previously captained his country in two T20 internationals but never in the 50-over format. Angelo Mathews will be his deputy for the trip.
