England Women are back in Ashes action at North Sydney Oval on Friday for the first of three must-win Twenty20 internationals.

Ashes-holders Australia lead the series 6-4 following the Test draw at the same venue over the weekend, meaning one victory in the T20s will see them to the required eight points.

England - barring weather or an unlikely tie - will need to triumph in Sydney and then in the final two games in Canberra, on Sunday and Tuesday, to reclaim the trophy they lost at home in 2015.

"We are not looking any further ahead than [Friday]. We have got to concentrate on it almost like a knock-out game and take confidence from the fact we have performed really well in knock-out games over the last year."
England captain, HEATHER KNIGHT

Sarah Taylor found her groove in England's warm-up against a Governor-General's XI on Wednesday, thrashing an unbeaten 93 from 76 balls as the tourists recorded a thumping 90-run win.

England's bowlers skittled their opponents for 56 at Drummoyne Oval, despite being shorn of seamer Anya Shrubsole, who missed the match with a slight hamstring niggle.

Shrubsole could sit out Friday's T20, too, meaning spinners Danielle Wyatt and Daniell Hazell, who have been talked up by England coach Mark Robinson, could play their first matches of the series.

"(Hazell) has been up there with the best T20 bowlers in the world for a long time now," said Robinson. "She is very clear, she keeps it simple and she nails what she does.

"I know they have both been desperate to get out there and contribute this tour. They want to make an impact and do well and T20 is their preferred format, where they are bankers."

"We want to win the series. We're not just thinking 'it's one game away'. We want to win all three T20s - there's a lot on the line and we want to finish really strongly."
Australia captain, RACHAEL HAYNES

Australia could also look to their spinners on a North Sydney Oval pitch that was pretty lifeless during the Test match but captain Haynes has suggested the hosts will resist the temptation to go in with four slow bowlers.

"(Spinners) have done pretty well for us over the course of the series," said Haynes, who could call on Ashleigh Gardner, Jess Jonassen, Amanda-Jade Wellington and Molly Strano.

"But I don't think that we will take four spinners - we'll pick a balanced team, the team who we think is best on that day to win the match."
