Movistar rider Nairo Quintana secured his second Tirreno-Adriatico title after holding on to his overall lead at the end of Tuesday’s final time trial.
Quintana, who last won the race in 2015, laid down an early marker for this year's Tour de France after a week to remember for Colombian riders following Sergio Henao's victory in the 75th edition of the Paris-Nice race on Sunday.
Tuesday's seventh and final stage was won by BMC rider Rohan Dennis, who hit an average speed of just over 53 kph to complete the 10km time trial around San Benedetto del Tronto in a winning time of 11min 18sec.
That was enough for the Australian to seal second-place in the overall classification, 25 seconds adrift of Quintana. Frenchman Thibaut Pinot [FDJ] placed third, 36 seconds behind the Colombian, with British rider Geraint Thomas [Team Sky] finishing fifth overall.
Dutchman Jan Van Emden [Team Lotto] finished three seconds behind Dennis to take second place in the time trial. Australian rider Michael Hepburn [Orica] came home ahead of Britain's Steve Cummings [Dimension Data] to take third and complete the stage podium.
Slovakia's Peter Sagan, who won two stages in the race, came close to disaster after swerving into a bike lane to avoid a woman and her dog casually walking across a zebra crossing.
