Great Britain's women will ride for gold in tonight's team pursuit, with Joanna Rowsell predicting the world record could fall.
Laura Trott, Wendy Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell qualified in three minutes 21.370 seconds, second fastest behind Canada, in the women's three-kilometre event which opened the Olympic test event on Thursday night.
Coach Paul Manning calling for a more disciplined display after believing his charges rode ahead of their prescribed schedule on the early laps due to the roar of the 6,000-capacity partisan crowd and could call upon reserve Dani King in the final.
Rowsell, who is targeting the United States' mark of 3mins 19.569secs, said: "We always planned to go out fast. We just couldn't keep it going. We're racing for a medal so we'll look forward to that.
"The noise is amazing. When you're racing you try to block everything out but you can't block that amount of noise out. I think the world record is possible on this track."
