Adrian Lewis’ return to form was the catalyst for his show-stealing nine-darter during Premier League Darts on Thursday, believes Wayne Mardle.
Lewis struck the perfect leg in a 7-4 win over Raymond van Barneveld to kick-start his challenge to qualify for the play-offs.
"Early on [in the season], he didn't settle in matches and was blowing chances," Mardle said. "Against Gary Anderson last week, every chance he had, he took. [Against Van Barneveld] he had a chance at a nine-darter and took it.
When he's in that routine and rhythm, he feels no fear and has no inner angst.
"He's relentless, he's hit [nine-darters] in World finals! When he's in that routine and rhythm, he feels no fear and has no inner angst.
"What Adrian was doing right all through the game; he was hitting 60 at the top of the bed. That makes all the different because it opens up.

"Every professional darts player will tell you that the hardest shot is the 57 because you have to hit 60, then come down. Hitting 57 was the absolute key.
"It's a year to the day [on Friday] that he hit his nine-darter in the Premier League last year. He's capable, we know that."
