Grand Slam of Darts Terry Jenkins

Jenkins - Grand Slam finalist.

After losing in the first round to Kirk Shepherd at last year's World Championship, Jenkins went off the boil somewhat.

For a man who had reached five televised finals over the previous 18 months (losing them all), his early exit was viewed as a huge surprise, though that was later put into context when Shepherd went all the way to the final.

The man they call 'The Bull' was certainly not at his best in the months that followed though, and only really hit top form in November - winning his first PDC Tour title for 18 months in Ireland, then reaching the Grand Slam final.

That sets him up nicely for his return to Ally Pally, where he will look to right the wrong of last year's early exit.

When compared to the likes of Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade and John Part, Jenkins remains 'the bridesmaid' as the highest-ranked player without a major title - but he is confident a "big one will come".

A former antiques dealer, Jenkins keeps a pretty low profile, with the likes of Adrian Lewis and Wayne Mardle grabbing more attention than the father of three from Herefordshire.
