Adrian Lewis: World Championship winner
Perhaps the most naturally talented thrower in the game today, Adrian Lewis is back at the scene of the greatest success of his career to date.
Just 12 months ago, 'Jackpot' delivered on the promise everyone - primarily his former mentor and fellow Stokie Phil Taylor - had seen in him for many a year by winning his first major title, the small matter of the World Championship.
Lewis beat Gary Anderson in the final, throwing a nine-darter along the way to cap a special night after which he said: "I have to push on from this."
The victory capped an excellent first season following the birth of his daughter Myla but he hasn't really kicked on from there consistently, while a high-profile split with partner Katie earnt him some negative headlines early in the year.
Though he reached the final of both the Premier League and European Championship in 2011, he suffered early exits at both the UK Open and Grand Prix; a sign he hasn't strung results together as Taylor does relentlessly.
He also trailed home seventh in his group in the Champions League, though he showed signs his best form was coming back at the Grand Slam of Darts.
Since coming to prominence in reaching the quarter-finals at the 2005 World Matchplay aged just 20, Lewis has been a familiar face at major tournaments and should surely add to that solitary televised victory in the years to come.
A delighted Sid Waddell says his return to the darts commentary box lived up to all of his expectations.
