history

The National Dodgeball League (NDL) is the pre-eminent dodgeball organization in the United States. The league itself is comprised of ten professional teams and is expanding to add another 6 teams in 2009.

In addition to managing the pro teams, the NDL assists dodgeball enthusiasts around the world with league and tournament advice and recommendations. The organization began in 2004 as the United States Dodgeball League (USDL). With the release of the movie Dodgeball, the league was overwhelmed with information requests. Dodgeballers from around the world began contacting the USDL for information on tournaments and on dodgeball in general.

The USDL formed the American Dodgeball Federation to assist with amateur inquiries. As the interest in the sport continued to climb, it soon became obvious that branding two separate organizations was unrealistic. The National Dodgeball League was then formed, and this new organization would oversee both amateur and professional play in the U.S.

Since the creation of the new NDL, dodgeball has continued to enjoy a resurgence. The NDL hosts the annual Dodgeball World Championship for amateur teams in Las Vegas, Nevada and is also the creator of the famous Last Dodgeballer Standing Competition.
