Fitzgerald: Arizona's ace

Every Sunday Sky Sports is showing no fewer than SIX live NFL games. And every week here on skysports.com the one and only Kevin Cadle will preview the three main matches...

Seahawks @ Giants

Thank God for Julius Jones!

So far Seattle's season has been all about him because Seattle have had so many injuries in pre-season and even coming into the regular season.

Their wide receivers have been hit particularly hard although there is some good news this weekend with the return of Bobby Engram. We might also see Deion Branch back on the football field which will also give Matt Hasselback more to work with.

Thee fact that Seattle is coming off a bye week is a good thing for them because it might just have given them time to get some of those casulaties healed up and fit to play.

Having a week off is also a great thing for the New York Giants because last time out Cincinatti kind of woke them up. No matter who you play in the NFL you have to step out there and be ready to play and although they won - in overtime - I just don't think the Superbowl champions performed.

They were lucky to get through that, but they did - but that was certainly a wake-up call. There's no doubt the talent is there for New York, but they still got problems because they've not got their two top receivers from last year, Plaxico Burress (pictured) who is banned, and tight Jeremy Shockey who they let go.

Now they pose a completely different offensive proposition and although Amani Toomer is nice and steady and Steve Smith is coming good, but that is still a big hole left in that passing game.

Were they right to suspend Plaxico? I would say yes, because if you don't turn up for work, what do you expect to happen? Everybody else in the world gotta do it, so why not you Plaxico?

Tom Coughlin is lucky that Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward are running the football really well this year and from Seattle's point of view, they gotta be looking at stopping that running game.

If they do that then New York have got to beat them through the pass and all of a sudden New York don't have their number one weapon.

New York can do it, it's not an impossible task, but without their main man it is gonna be much harder.

CADLE'S CALL: I've still gotta go with the Giants. If they hadn't had that alarm call against Cincinnati then I might have gone with Seattle, but now the champions know they've got to turn up, no matter who the opposition is.

Bills @ Cardinals

Buffalo are my boys and I like the fact that they have got a lot of young talent on that team.

Dick Jauron has done a tremendous job in securing these young guys. Wide receivers James Hardy and Lee Evans have the ability and although return specialist Roscoe Parrish is gonna be a big miss in their line-up, I do think this group of receivers is getting better.

The quarterback situation is fine with Trent Edwards but there is one concern I always have about the Bills: their tendency not to show up for the first half of games.

When the brown stuff hits the fan they come good and they are a second-half team, but eventually that ain't gonna work.

It's going to be interesting to see if they can get off to a good start against Arizona or whether they depend on turning it around in the last two quarters, find that comeback that they've been living off.

Arizona don't have Anquan Boldin (pictured) thanks to Eric Smith, but they've still got a serious player in Larry Fitzgerald. Larry is a serious player, but Anquan missing is a big thing.

They've got the rookie receiver from LSU, Early Doucet, so now he is going to have to step up and become a main receiver and maybe that Anquan scenario is that emotional trigger they need here.

Arizona is also coming off seven turnovers last week and I don't care who you are, you don't do that two weeks in a row.

That offense has to get it right. We say it every week but if you turn that ball over you just put your defense in a whole heap of trouble.

CADLE'S CALL: The Bills are my boys and all that but I have to go with Arizona because I think they're gonna have that emotional edge.

Steelers @ Jaguars

Things can't get much worse for Pittsburgh.

They had plenty of injuries going into last week, including running back Willie Parker, and now they have lost Rashard Mendenhall for the season as well.

They've brought back Najeh Davenport and Gary Russell which they had to, and Mewelde Moore has proved that he can run the football in this league.

Give it to him and he'll keep running for you all day long, but when you're the main man all of a sudden, that's a different kettle of fish.

Jacksonville are in much better shape. They've won their last two, they've won them both close, and they are starting to get it together. Dave Garrard and Matt Jones got it going on last week and really brought them home against the Texans.

They have also had a lot of injuries to contend with but winning those games on the back of Josh Scobee (pictured) field goals tells you two things. It tells you that they are just scraping by on the seat of their pants but it also tells us that they have got what it takes to get through certain situations.

At the end of the day football is all about the 'W' and you can make any excuses you want, but all you have to do is win the football game - and that is what Jacksonville has done the last two weeks.

CADLE'S CALL: I have to go with the Jags. You've gotta give them props for coming through to get the wins and when a team is in survival mode they usually find a way.

Ian Hoggart says...

Jags to win Kevin ? going with the home team again ! Difficult to argue though even as a Steelers fan, It seems a bit odd that the Steelers take Mendenhall in the draft to lessen the load on Willie Parker and then don't run him for two weeks until Parker inevitably becomes injured. When Parker goes down they then expect Mendenhall to carry the load ? well if he could carry the load in week 4 by himself then he must have been up to carrying part of the load in weeks 2 & 3. Mendenhall, expected to crash his way through on his own in week 4 then becomes injured ROS, well that wasn't too difficult to predict was it. The Steelers then re sign Davenport who presumably they decided couldn't carry the load last year or they wouldn't have cut him, so why not try a different back ? Hmm still Mewelde Moore showed a bit of fighting spirit last week so as Nick says " It ain't all over till the fat lady sings" On reflection Steelers to go 4 & 1 in another backs to the wall close one ??
