Titans: the perfect start

Week Five was an historic week in NFL history.

Firstly, Tennesse went 5-0 for the first time in their existence with a 13-10 win over Baltimore.

Then, Indianapolis produced a monumental last-ditch comeback to overhaul Houston with Reggie Wayne sealing it with less than two minutes on the clock.

Individually, even though Kansas City were shut out by Carolina, Tony Gonzalez set a new NFL record for receiving yards by a tight end.

Elsewhere, Atlanta and Miami pulled off surprise wins as a season of shocks continued.

There were heroics a plenty from teams and players across the league, but who caught Kevin Cadle's expert eye in Week Five?

Team of the Week -
Tennessee Titans

It has to be the Titans. I think everyone is surprised by them going 5-0 for the first time in their history, not least because they are not going with their main quarterback, Vince Young, who was supposed to be the man at the start of the season. Yes, their defense has been outstanding but they really needed someone to take care of the football for them - that's what they've been lacking but they do have that now with Kerry Collins. He's not really turning the football over and he's giving them the direction they need. The defense has been outstanding but in truth there is nothing spectacular about anything they do, they are just getting the job done - which is pretty much what happened against Baltimore last weekend. But the problem the Titans now have is once you go 5-0 the expectation levels change, everyone suddenly starts talking about them - and they've gotta now deal with that.

Player of the Week -
Clinton Portis RB Washington Redskins

There were a number of guys who could've got this, but I have to go with Clinton Portis for his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only are they one of Washington's main rivals but that Philly defense is pretty decent against the run, yet Clinton came good with 145 yards and a touchdown - which turned out to be the winner. What I also liked about his performance was the way he controlled the clock at the end of the game. When he needed to run it down, as soon as Washington gave him the ball he took control and did just that. What I like about him right now is he is clearly playing with some major confidence as we saw on that last play when they clearly wanted to throw the ball but he went to the coach and said 'I can get you some yards and win the football game'. That's the reason they called that touchdown play and he got the job done. Portis has got the capability to lead and right now that is the one thing that sets him apart for the Redskins, because Jason Campbell is not ready to take that on just yet.

Play of the Week -
Reggie Wayne's winning TD for Indiapolis Colts

Houston truly fell apart but you gotta give Indy credit for turning that football game around. Not only was it the first time in history that a team had come from 17 points down with five minutes on the clock and not only did it seal the win, but Reggie's play itself was something special. He had to take it over the shoulder, one-handed, but he also had to keep his feet in bounds. They had to go to the replay because his shins hit first before his knee and everything else went out of bounds, but the fact that it was called good makes it such a special play because of that point alone.

Villain of the Week -
Sage Rosenfels QB Houston Texans

Sage Rosenfels, you have this one tied down, lock, stock and barrel. It's your honour this week, all yours! Houston have had some problems at quarterback but Sage got the call when Matt Schaub got ill. And it was all going so well until that finish. First he fumbles, the Colts get a touchdown back, then he's intercepted, then he needs to run the clock down but fumbles again and the deficit is cut even further. Okay, the Reggie Wayne play that won it was something special, but after taking the Texans into a 27-10 lead, Rosenfels went from hero to zero. And how!

Its fantastic to see the titans at 5-0 they might now get the credit they should of had some time ago!! I think Jeff Fisher is 1 of the top 3 coaches in the NFL. Come on titans you can go all the way this yaer?...
