There's an old saying in most walks of life that 'you can't keep a good man down'.
That sums up perfectly the way the $100,000 FIM Grand Prix of Germany will go this weekend. Watch out for deposed world champion Jason Crump.
There would be no better way for the Australian to bounce back from the disappointment of losing his crown - and let's face it he rarely looked like keeping his hopes alive - than to win the big money prize in the 100th Grand Prix.
It's amazing to think that 99 Grand Prix rounds have been raced since the launch in 1995. Back then, there was controversy about the scrapping of the one-off world final, the cynics said it wouldn't last - and yet, 12 years later, the competition is stronger than ever.
Crump will also be looking to put a marker down for next season. He will be back, have no doubt about that, and he will be stronger for the experience of this season.
He suffered from injuries at the worst possible times ahead of a GP round and he was always in the shadow of eventual winner Nicki Pedersen.
But Crump's the complete speedway rider. Mechanically, physically and mentally there is no stopping the man when he's on top of his game and it won't surprise me if that applies this weekend.
Full credit to Pedersen, he has deserved his title. He is, quite rightly, the best speedway rider in the world right now but in a one-off race to decide the winner of such a lucrative prize, it's hard to predict.
I just feel Crump will be the man - and he can head Down Under for a winter break with a bit of holiday money in his pocket!
