Freddie Lindgren: Wolves star below par so far Fotospeedway.pl

Wolves v Ipswich
7.30pm, Monday, Sky Sports 1

Wolves had high hopes at the start of the season but so far it has been very much stop-start for them.

They've had a couple of meetings at home that they've lost which is not what they would have been looking for.

I sense there's a little bit of unrest in the camp, whatever it is it's difficult to put your finger on it but all is not exactly happy-go-lucky.

I'm sure they'll be working very hard to rectify that.

Saying that, there's no reason why they can't get their season going, they've obviously made it difficult for themselves by losing, not once but twice already this season (against Lakeside and Coventry).

But there's no reason why they can't push for fourth - they have the time to do it.

The bright spark for Wolves has been Niels Kristian Iversen who signed from Peterborough.

Freddie Lindgren has maybe not been as consistent as he would've liked and he has a lot of pressure on his shoulders this year at such a young age.

Collectively so far Wolves just haven't performed as well as they know they can.

They could rectify their indifferent form with a couple of away wins but they can't really afford to lose at home again so the pressure will be on them, starting on Monday night where they have a must-win against Ipswich.

The Witches

They started reasonably well and then we saw by Swindon when the Robins were flying high, and then they lost Chris Louis who has been a bit of a stalwart for the Witches.

They've had a difficult start to the season and I don't believe they are one of the contenders to go on and win the league, I'm sure their management would disagree, but I feel that they are probably a rider short of winning a trophy this season.

I have to say though that in the last couple of weeks they seem to have settled a bit and their three Polish riders are beginning to find their form.

They're currently fifth and fourth position in the Elite League is definitely within their grasp this season, especially as Eastbourne have just lost their way a little bit.

The Eagles lost at home on Monday and lost again on Thursday night so their confidence has dropped after a bright start.

Apart from the top three, who are out on their own, the chasing pack could grab fourth place most certainly.

Kelvin's call

HOME WIN: Purely and simply because this is a must-win for Wolves, even though it is still early days in the season. Wolves cannot afford to continue losing at home. They will be highly motivated for this one and I can't see the Witches getting past them.

Well done to the witches and to the wolves who put up an excellent fight, but what a meeting! It's the thrilling I've seen all year it was such a tight meeting which went right down to the very end.I think that meeting has put ipswich in good stead for the poole meeting now and if they can get a result there than they surely must be for a top four finish.

i agree with Mr Wilkinsons comments on that the racing at Wolverhampton on Sky is usually very good with lots of passing and incidents. Not sure about the new studio as the commentry kept getting lost with the noise of the bikes. I am another Sky HD customer waiting for Sky Sports to start showing speedway in HD I hope it happens really soon in fact wouldnt the British GP be a good place to start and continue with the Elite League after that.

i think that ipswich deserved the win in last nights sky meeting. i have been a life long ipswich fan and i can see some light at the end of the tunnel after so many years of upset and poor results the 1998 season seems so a distant memory. I think that we can prove alot of people wrong this season and a top four finish is well within our grasp but i do think we ride at our best when the polish riders are on form, we need to keep up our great team spirit and im sure we can continue to pick up the away wins well done boys

What an excellent night of speedway racing on tv probaly the best tv match of the year i think with lots of close racing. Well done to Ipswich and also to Wolves for fighting back well. I think the new presentation worked well tonight and the new studio looked good with Nigel Pearson and Kelvin working well together, just one thing I wish Sky would hurry up and start broadcasting speedway in High Definition as im sure myself and many more Sky HD customers want to see the best coverage possible.

I believe Piotr Swiderski and Tobi Kroner hold the key to this one. If the Witches were to get R/R for Kroner and if they use Swiderski well from the reserve berth, they just might pull it off, although, the wolves must be favourites.

Mike Bager says...

Wolverhampton to win 48 - 42. Ipswich's polish riders seem to struggle at Wolverhampton with the tight Monmore Green turns, especially Hampel. Saying that, Swiderski has been flying wherever he's been and Schramm has picked up a bit of form in the last couple of meetings riding from reserve birth so with a little bit of luck and solid contribution from the whole team it would not be a major shock if the Witches nicked the three points.

I think the witches can win, beacause surely if they can beat eastbourne away then there is hope that they can win at monmore green, but you never know speedway is a funny game so it could go either way.

Mark Harrrison says...

I agree with Kelvin, this is a must-win match for Wolves. To stand any chance of getting in the play offs, you must win home matches.
