Having lost out to Manchester United on the final day of the Premier League season, speculation about Avram Grant's position at Stamford Bridge will continue.
Grant took a lap of honour round Stamford Bridge, shaking the supporters' hands, which Thommo suggested may have been a sign.
"Was he maybe going round to say his goodbyes? It could be a big issue," said Thommo.
If Chelsea fail to win the Champions League final, Thommo feels the writing will be on the wall for Grant.
But whatever happens he would like Roman Abramovich to move quickly in order to avoid continued, unsettling speculation.
Thommo continued: "I think there's big things to happen at Chelsea in the summer. I looked at the face of Frank Lampard when the game had finished and he was extremely dejected.
"I think there's big things to happen at Chelsea players wise, staff wise, whichever way they're going to do it.
"To be honest I hope they come out early and the owner comes out and backs Avram Grant or sends him upstairs - do whatever he wants to end the speculation.
"Chelsea are wanting to move on and move forward, get the Champions League final out of the way and make their decisions quickly rather than it rumble on with everybody."
