Back Hamilton for hat-trick

Sky Sports F1 analyst tips world champion to dominate in Singapore

F1 pundit Johnny Herbert is backing Lewis Hamilton to continue his domination of the sport in this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

The world champion goes into the night race with a 53-point lead over team-mate Nico Rosberg and is as short as 8/15 with bookmakers to secure his eighth victory of the season.

The Mercedes driver can also equal Ayrton Senna's tally of 41 victories from 161 starts this weekend and if form is anything to go by history beckons for the 30-year-old according to Herbert.

The Sky Sports F1 analyst successfully tipped up Hamilton to complete the hat-trick (win, pole and fastest lap) at Monza last time out at 9/4, and is confident the British driver will repeat the feat at the Marina Bay Street Circuit at odds of 5/2 with Sky Bet.

Herbert said: "Lewis led every session in Italy and not only achieved the hat-trick but also led every lap of the race.

"He comes to Singapore brimming with confidence and aiming to equal Ayrton Senna's career stats of 41 wins from 161 starts. Would you bet against it? I certainly wouldn't."

Hamilton, who won the race last year, can also underline his blistering pace by equalling Senna's record of eight consecutive poles, which has stood since 1989 - a 2/7 shot with the online bookmaker.

Herbert is also expecting great things from Red Bull this weekend and thinks there is plenty of value backing Daniil Kvyat at 5/1 to secure a podium finish.

The three-time GP winner said: "Historically it's a track that suits their (Red Bull) chassis and with less emphasis on power here than at the last races, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the young Russian back on the podium again."

After Sergio Perez returned for a top six finish in the Italian GP at 2/1, Herbert is keeping faith with the in-form Force India driver and backing him at 5/6 to return this weekend.

He added: "You can't ignore Sergio at the moment. Driving extremely well and in a much improved car that seems to suit him a whole lot better than his team-mate. Another Top 10 weekend beckons."
