A great start from second on the grid set up the Bamboo Engineering driver's win and he was followed across the line by three compatriots as the Brits took the top four spots.
There was drama before the race started, however, with Saturday winner Facu Regalia stalling on the formation lap and being forced to start from the pits. He would eventually retire on lap eight.
Alex Sims had started on pole for the reverse grid but slipped behind McKee and the Carlin car of Nick Yelloly on the run down to turn one. Behind them Carlos Sainz and the fast-starting Jack Harvey made contact, allowing Lewis Williamson into fourth.
MW Arden have struggled throughout the season with tyre wear and Sainz had started to lap slowly by lap six, allowing the Marussia Manor Racing pair of Tio Ellinas and Dino Zamparelli to close onto his gearbox. They were unable to find a way past though, and the Spaniard would hold onto fifth at the flag.
Midway through the race Sims - who seemed to be managing his tyres better than those around him - was flying. Having been running in the clean air around a second behind Yelloly, he quickly cut that gap and the pair battled for over a lap - Sims eventually diving to the inside of the Carlin driver at turn three, locking his front-left as he squeezed past. The fight was firm, but fair, and a great advert for GP3.
Behind them two more Brits were battling through the same sequence of corners over 24th. Josh Webster went around the outside of Ryan Cullen through turns two and three before getting the inside line for turn four. However, the pair made contact on the exit of the corner, with the Marussia driver spinning and the Status man suffering a front-left puncture.
Having dispatched Yelloly, Sims was lapping some eight tenths faster than McKee in the lead to set up a thrilling last three laps. But no matter where 25-year-old looked, the Bamboo driver was able to defend and take his and the team's first GP3 win.
