Despite being dropped by the Leafield-based team at the end of last season in order for them to bring in a driver with a budget behind him, Kovalainen's relationship with Caterham has remained strong and they first called on his experience to test what was then an upgraded CT03 in P1 in both Bahrain and Spain.
The Finn has now been called up for two further 90-minute practice outings at the next two grand prix in place of race drivers Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde respectively, starting on Friday morning at Spa.
"First news today is that @H_Kovalainen is driving FP1 for us here in Spa (in @Charles_Pic1's car) & FP1 in Monza (in @GvanderGarde's car)," Caterham tweeted on Thursday morning in Belgium.
"Mirroring the work @H_Kovalainen did for us in FP1 in Bahrain & Barcelona, he'll be giving us another view of the car here at Spa & in Monza."
Although the former Renault and McLaren driver's on-track work for Caterham has been confined to practice sessions in 2013 so far, Kovalainen has been consistently linked with a full-time race return in place of Dutchman van der Garde, although the team themselves have consistently denied the speculation.
