Williams: Welsh Player of the Year

If only other Welsh players could show the same commitment and dedication to their country as Ashley Williams we'd be better off and higher up the rankings I'm sure - the likes of Jason Koumas, Ryan Giggs, Robbie Savage and Paul Parry to name but a few.

On a serious note it was a great match for the neutral, a great advert for the Championship and it also passed without much trouble. Swansea were superb and the score could have been five or six on another day, how we let Cardiff back into the game I'll never know, but the best team won in the end.

Midfielder Darren Pratley was immense in the South Wales derby; I think he would still be running up and down the Liberty pitch now if the game was still on, he scored two great goals and fully deserved to be MOTM. Hopefully he has fully recovered from the shoulder injury and mumps that kept him out for the start of the season. What a bargain he was at £100,000 - thanks Fulham!

All players who played in white deserve credit; the late pull-out of Andy Monk probably didn't help but his replacement, full-back Fede Bessone, had an impressive game and set up two goals; Leon Britton was his usual best and Alan Tate seemed to thrive even more against the team he hates, though he didn't seem to hear wheat the Cardiff fans were shouting at him after the third goal went in!

Onto international matters now and congratulations to Swansea defender Ashley Williams on becoming the FAW Player of the Year (Okay, I know it probably wasn't that difficult to win, as I was in the running for it, as well as ex-Swan Steve Watkin). Just kidding, well done Ash.

Talented

Williams captained the Welsh national team against Scotland on the weekend at Cardiff's Stadium (that didn't go down to well with some of the locals!). He played very well and his team won 3-0, he can captain us more often if the results are going to be the same!

Young midfielder Joe Allen won his second cap for his country, after replacing Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey - the boos he had from the minority (and I mean a minority) of Welsh fans was nothing short of disgraceful. Allen is a very talented player and will hopefully help the Welsh - and Swansea - team massively in the coming years.

On Friday the Swans host struggling Derby County; we are currently 10 matches unbeaten and the players and fans should hopefully be high on confidence after our last win. Should we win we would obviously gain an important three points before two tough away matches to Newcastle and Peterborough.

Refreshed

I am glad we didn't play the Tuesday after the Cardiff match though, as when we played Fulham at home last season in the FA Cup we were outstanding then we went to Watford on the following Tuesday and lost 2-0 - the less said about that performance the better.

We should be fully refreshed and I'm sure all the players and management have been working hard on the training ground this week. A win and we move up to third, without wanting to jinx us that would be a great sight on Saturday morning - fingers and toes crossed.

Lastly I just have one question, does anyone know whether Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley was found safe and well after being reported missing on the 7th November 2009, at around 12:45?

Who are we?!
