Davies: Wolf whistles galore
It's difficult not to dream and push yourself further but raising expectations can be a dangerous game as many managers could tell you through experience.

Quotes of the week
At the age of nearly 27, it's fair to suggest that my chances of becoming a professional footballer have disappeared, along with my fitness of course.
But I remember being a youngster and dreaming of representing England at Wembley. It must be one of the best privileges in your footballing career and a moment that you would remember for the rest of your life.
As a manager, I imagine it must be pretty similar. To lead your home country out at the National Stadium and sing your heart out to the national anthem would be a mind boggling and goose-bump experience.
Following Scotland's decision to sack George Burley last week, many managers have been thrown into the hat to replace the former Ipswich and Derby manager including Nottingham Forest's very own Billy Davies.
Davies would be an exceptional choice to take Scotland to the next level with his straight talking, no-nonsense approach and thorough attention to detail. One thing is for certain though, he would want complete control of the overall setup - much like Clough would have done had the correct decision have been made by the Football Association back in the Seventies for the England job.
I'm sure Billy would fancy the challenge but hopefully not at this stage in his overall career and more importantly, not at this critical time of the season with the Reds.
Forest have been more than competitive this season in the Championship and still remain the only club in the country to have an unbeaten record away from home this season.
With the January transfer window looming, hopefully the board and 'acquisition panel' will learn from their past mistakes and invest in the playing squad for an assault on a top six place.
As chairman of a football club, it must be difficult to give your own or the clubs' money to one person to spend as they wish. It would involve a huge amount of trust and Nottingham Forest have certainly been stung before in the past by a certain Mr Platt. He is almost certainly the main reason why we have this 'acquisition panel' in place.
I know Davies doesn't like the acquisition panel but hopefully they can come through and get the players that Billy has targeted. You can't complain a great deal at the signings he's made so far can you? Platt was young and inexperienced when he spent all that money, giving Davies a war chest would be completely different.
The recent loan signing of Nicky Shorey from Aston Villa is a statement of intent that Forest are looking to bring in players that can push the Reds onto the next level.
Davies regularly states we aren't ready for the Premiership yet and he's right. But if an opportunity is there to reach the promised land and the huge finances that go with it, you simply have to gamble.
Davies may come out with the same sentences and clichés to the media about a mid-table position being the aim but I know for a fact that he is striving to reach the Premier League again and will push as hard as possible to make it happen this season.
Before the start of the season, a mid-table finish would have been making progress and the consolidation that the club requires. However, with the Reds lying in fourth place with the opportunity to leapfrog Leicester into third this week, you just wonder how far the wee man can take us.
It's difficult not to dream and push yourself further but raising expectations can be a dangerous game as many managers could tell you through experience.
I'll finish with a famous football cliché: 'We'll take every game as it comes and not get too carried away' - if it's good enough for Billy then it's good enough for me.

John Hughes (Nottingham Forest fan) says...
Having been a Forest fan since the day I could walk from the Meadows to the City Ground holding my Dad's hand, I have seen the very highs of winning League Titles and European Cups to the very very lows of relegation from the top flight then again to a lower league. In Billy Davies we now have a man that can deliver the goods that so many Trentsiders have been longing for, for so very long. I believe that promotion with this young side is within our grasp and only good can come of it for the City of Nottingham, it would put us firmly back on the footballing map. So let's not have any more of this mid table drivel would be good for us, Let's get back into the premiership where we all know we belong. To Billy, his backroom staff, the squad, even the board and most of all the superb followers of Nottingham Forest, let's get behind the team home and away for that final push to the promised land. come on you REDS.
