Villa 0 Everton 2. All over and the Toffees take the spoils. Villa held their own, but luck was against then.
Baines wins a late free-kick. Villa frustration boiling over. Jagielka looks to jog forward, but then decides against it. Final few seconds being played out.
Corner played out to McCarthy, who tees up Baines 25 yards out. He decides to try his luck, but drags his shot a little and sees it skid well past the post.
Deulofeu gets his first touch. A direct run and a couple of step-overs see him into the box, and he wins a corner off Clark. Deulofeu decides to take himself.
Vlaar concedes a throw. Villa on the back foot again when they really need to be piling forward. Not going to be their afternoon.
Flag up this time against Mirallas. He disagrees with the decision. It is his final act as he is replaced by Deulofeu. Would have liked to see more of him, but Martinez can't take too many risks.
Not what Villa need as Mirallas drives into the box and sends a cross behind off Baker. Corner taken short, and backwards. Everton end up back on halfway. They have no need to go for a third.
Bacuna bombing down the right, but is double-teamed by Baines and Naismith. Everton working hard to keep their clean sheet intact. Lukaku, again, being left all along up top.
Howard with a bit of time-wasting, which goes unpunished. He lumps long, happy to get the ball as far away as possible from his goal.
Villa still clinging to hope. Weimann wide to their right, and sending over across. Helenius goes up with Distin and as the ball squirms behind, it is Everton who get the decision.
Everton already looking towards the final whistle. They aren't putting too much emphasis on getting forward now. They are happy to go for the corners.
Mirallas down the middle, but the door is slammed in his face. Naismith then flicks the ball cleverly forward and is taken out. Free-kick to Everton which they are in no rush to take. When they do, Naismith is picked out and sends a low drive inches past the post.
Mirallas still looking lively. He is moved over to the left, with Naismith out on the right. Everton on course to claim a fourth win in five - Martinez has really taken them on.
Surely all over now. Plenty of the home supporters see it that way, with a mass exodus towards the exits taking place. Lambert stood head bowed on the touchline.
GOAL EVERTON - OSMAN. Mirallas takes the corner short and Barry ends up being worked into acres of space. He gets his head up and cuts back to the edge of the box for Osman to stroke low into the bottom corner.
Second change being made by Everton. Pienaar makes way for Naismith. Just a case of getting fresh legs out there at this stage.
Mirallas bursting through challenges. He then slows things down to walking pace 30 yards from goal. Eventually Lukaku is picked out and he sees a shot flick behind for a corner off Clark.
Barry and Osman keeping things ticking over for Everton. We said experience could be key, and it is looking that way at the moment. Everton know how to close games out.
Attacking change by Villa, with Helenius thrown on in place of Tonev. Big frontman who will added another physical presence.
Martinez waving his arms around on the sidelines. Not sure what the message is, but it should be keep it tight. Everton edging towards the finishing post.
Westwood wide towards Tonev, Baines there for Everton. Villa camped in the Toffees half. Weimann cuts back from the by-line to Agbonlahor. He fires straight at Howard from 12 yards out.
Everton happy to sit a little deeper now. They have been soaking up pressure for much of the second half and haven't been overly threatened.
Clark opts to go backwards when he could have gone long into the box. Villa are able to work the ball well, with Weimann drifting towards the box. He is able to get a shot away, but fires into the stands from 20 yards out.
Lambert now stood hands on hips. He said he needed to relax a few minutes ago, he now needs to up the tempo and revert to Plan B. He still has two changes up his sleeve.
Villa force another corner. Westwood over another set-piece. Baines this time able to clear for Everton from in front of his own goal-line.
Could have been worse for Villa. Lukaku causing problems again as he gets down the middle. He looks to turn the ball goalwards and sees it strike Vlaar. Handball shout goes up, but nothing given. Vlaar's arms were up.
GOAL EVERTON - LUKAKU. One-touch football from the Toffees carves Villa open. Osman squares into the box for Lukaku, who dispatches a first time effort low beyond Guzan.
Weimann long into Benteke. Good hold up play at first, but there are four yellow shirts around him. It has been a 'nearly' afternoon for the Villa striker so far.
Baines over a free-kick on halfway, which he sends along the ground to Coleman. Clark able to see the ball back to Guzan. Villa a little rushed this time as they go down their left towards no-one.
Lukaku unable to catch up with a pass fed down the Everton left. Vlaar able to watch the ball behind. Lambert prowling the touchline anxiously. He is always on the move. He needs to relax, his side are playing well.
Lukaku flagged offside. Feeding off scraps at the moment the Everton frontman. Villa move down the other end, with Barry forced to put in a flying block to deny Weimann. Tonev now nursing a knock.
Westwood will be okay to continue. Just dusting himself down on the sidelines. On the field, Villa win a throw down their left. Westwood trots back on.
McCarthy was full-blooded in his challenge. He came into it from the front, which saved him in some ways. If he had come in from the side and been as high and late, he may well have seen red. Fine line. Westwood back on his feet.
Baines powering forward, and finding Pienaar. Tonev all the way back for Villa to put in an important challenge. As Villa look to counter, Westwood is caught by McCarthy and stays down. Everton man is booked.
Westwood into the feet of Benteke, but yet again he can't escape Jagielka. Villa striker was caught on his heels a bit and was unable to break into full stride. Barry then on hand to nod to safety on the edge of his own box.
Everton make their change, with Barkley the man to make way for Osman. Martinez eager to not ask too much of his young star. Osman has bags of experience, which could prove important.
Distin concedes another corner, as he turns a Tonev cross behind. Westwood's driven corner is met by Distin. Everton can't get out of their own half. Villa piling on the pressure, with Weimann driving wide from 25 yards out.
Movement on the Everton bench. Osman being given instructions. Everton need to find a spark from somewhere. They haven't offered much since the interval. Martinez out on the touchline demanding more from his troops.
Delph into a gap on the edge of the box. He looks to bend the ball towards the top corner, but the strike hist Jagielka and goes wide with Howard wrong-footed. Lukaku there again for Everton to deal with the corner. So useful at both ends of the field.
Agbonlahor races past McCarthy and Coleman and to the by-line. He looks to cross on the stretch, but Jagielka is in the right place again for Everton.
Baker moving down the left, but isn't a natural full-back and never looks comfortable running with the ball. McCarthy takes over in midfield for Everton, finding Mirallas. This time he over-hits a cross from the right, which sails behind.
Bacuna opts against a long throw and finds Benteke inside the box. He is crowded out and Barry can hack clear. Villa remain on the front foot for a moment, but then allow Barkley to counter. Vlaar does well to block his route to goal.
Jagielka tight on Benteke and deflects a shot from the edge of the box onto the roof of his own net, with Howard back-peddling. Westwood's delivery from the corner is glanced away by Lukaku. Mirallas can't keep the ball in play.
Barkley looking to impress Hodgson, but he needs to improve his decision making. He did really well to win the ball 25 yards out, but then suffered a rush of blood when he had better options wide of him. Baines, another England hopeful, then allows the ball to roll under his boot.
Agbonlahor blocks a Jagielka clearance. Westgood gathers and gets his head up. Benteke is free in the middle, but again a poor pass lets Villa down. Westwood sprays the ball over Benteke's head. At the other end of the field, Barkley lashes an ambitious effort well wide.
Pienaar cuts inside Bacuna and looks right for Mirallas. Coleman ahead of him this time, but again the final ball isn't good enough and Guzan can claim from in front of Lukaku. Deliveries haven't been good enough from either side.
Benteke drops deep to get on the ball. The ball ends up squirming loose to Agbonlahor, who is forced along the edge of the box. He goes wide to Baker, whose cross is cut out by Jagielka.
Baker's pass cut out by Coleman, who can spring forward. Mirallas picked out in acres of space, but his cross is nodded behind by Clark in the middle. Mirallas takes the corner himself, but Lukaku nods over the top from 15 yards out.
Lukaku touches on, but has no-one breaking beyond him. Everton need to get someone in and around him when he is forced to drop deep. Pienaar unable to do so as the moment as he has to track back with Bacuna.
Guzan with a long ball which Jagielka wins in the air. The ball ends up rolling all the way back through to the Villa keeper. No changes by either side at the break.
Players emerging for the second half. Can't see this ending goalless if the chances keep on coming. Roy Hodgson just taking his seat alongside Peter Withe.
Remember you can also bet in-play at Skybet.com. Villa now 11/4 to take the spoils, with Everton 11/8 and the draw available at the same price. You can get 3/1 on the game to end 0-0.

Villa 0 Everton 0. Somehow we remain goalless. Benteke missed an early penalty, and both keepers have been in top form.
Free-kick comes to nothing. Looks like we will head into the interval all square. Villa looking for one last chance, but Everton stand firm.
Delph has slotted in at left-back for the time being. Not a good afternoon for Luna. Villa ready to make their change, but Guzan has the ball at his feet. It is soon coming back his way as Barkley is tripped by Baker.
Luna hobbles off and there is movement on the Villa bench. Lambert forced into a change moments before the break. Luna heading off towards the tunnel.
Luna now down and looks like he may require treatment. Play halted. He stretched to cut out a ball into the box and may have pulled a muscle. Treatment required.
Barkley from a central post into Mirallas, who is nudged off the ball. Vlaar goes from back to front in one pass. Agbonlahor is quick, but even he can't catch up with a well-struck ball.
Tonev with a dangerous ball rolled into the box. Benteke doesn't read his intention and Howard can gather under no pressure. Everton take a turn to indulge in a bout of keep-ball.
Villa knocking the ball around confidently. Everton sitting back and letting them have it. Only Lukaku being left up field by the visitors. Villa can't unlock the door.
Westwood fires over the set-piece. Howard rooted to his line for a moment, but does enough to touch the ball away for a throw. Bacuna with a long one into the box. Vlaar can't get a touch, but Tonev wins another corner off Baines. Lukaku nods clear for Everton.
Delph felled again by McCarthy. Villa go down their left to Tonev. He looks to send over a low cross, but Coleman has to touch behind for a corner.
Vlaar tries his luck from 40-odd yards out. He was influenced by the crowd and it comes as no surprise to see his effort sail well wide of the target and high into the stands.
Mirallas breaking down the right again. Luna has no idea where he is most of the time. Villa have issues to address at left-back. All a bit scrappy in midfield now, with both sides giving the ball away.
Pienaar down the left, and tangles with Bacuna. He wants a free-kick, or a corner, but gets neither. Guzan takes his time with the goal kick, which ends up at the feet of Benteke.
Mirallas makes the most of space on behind Luna. He stands up Baker, and slips past him. His shot from a tight angle is touched behind by Baker on the stretch. Distin meets another set-piece, but can't pick out a team-mate.
Benteke back to Vlaar, who surges over halfway. Everton pull men back. Delph skips away from two tackles and finds Weimann. He is halted in his tracks by Baines.
Sloppy pass from Barkley, but Everton soon get the ball back. Pienaar looks to float a pass over Luna for Lukaku, but the Villa full-back is able to grow enough and head clear.
Bacuna hobbling and doesn't look too good. He will try and run off whatever the problem is. Barkley with another effort from distance, which is blocked by Vlaar. Weimann flies forward again, but Delph's pass trickles out of play.
Jagielka climbs above Benteke to nod clear. Everton counter again, with Lukaku wriggling down the middle. He ends up having to poke the ball goalwards, and Guzan spreads himself to block.
Barkley takes aim from 25 yards out. He sees a shot loop up off the boot of Westwood and cannon off the top of the crossbar. Everton settle for a corner. Baines fires long, but Distin's nod down is cleared.
Villa take a bit of breather as Everton play their way out from the back. No pressing until the ball reaches halfway. Pienaar is then tripped just inside the Villa half by Westwood.
Guzan bowls the ball out for Weimann. He can't get around Coleman, but possession breaks to Westwood. He looks for Agbonlahor, but Baines is on hand to nod back to Howard.
Guzan with a brilliant save now. Coleman well forward down the right and he centres for Lukaku to nod goalwards from six yards out. Guzan stands tall and palms the ball to safety one-handed. Both keepers in top form this afternoon.
Howard keeping Everton in this at the moment. He is called for again here as Jagielka ushers the ball back towards his own box, but needs his keeper top race out and hammer into the stands. Everton a little rattled at the moment.
Lukaku gathers a poor clearance. He wants to go himself as well, and sees a shot blocked at source. He would have been better passing. End-to-end stuff as Weimann gets clear. He gets the ball caught under his feet and Howard comes to the edge of his block to block with his feet.
Benteke could have square for Bacuna, who had a gaping goal in front of him, but the Belgian is a goalscorer and had every right to go himself. Everton back four has been caught out on a few occasions now. Not like them.
Everton attack breaks down, but Jagielka does really well to prevent Benteke from countering - forcing him out of play and winning a throw down the Toffees' right. Villa come again and Tonev springs Benteke clear. He is denied once again by a fabulous save by Howard, who stands tall and beats the ball away.
Mirallas wins a throw off Luna, who is less than happy with the decision. Distin then moves over halfway. He isn't afraid of charging forward when the opportunity presents itself.
McCarthy pulled up for a nudge on Delph. Everton man too eager on this occasion to win the ball back. Guzan sends the free-kick long and Coleman can watch it slip behind for a goal kick.
Baines whips over the delivery. Not his best as he floats the ball over those in the middle and straight into the hands of Guzan. He needed to make the delivery much flatter. He doesn't get too many wrong.
McCarthy into the feet of Coleman, who finds himself well forward. He has his ankles clipped by Luna wide on the right. Promising position for Everton, level with the edge of the penalty area.
Barkley dropping deep to try and get involved. He finds Barry, who wins a free-kick off Agbonlahor after being bundled over from behind. Set-piece played short, and then into Lukaku. He spins on the edge of the box, but Pienaar then sends a pass out of play.
The set-piece is fizzed in by Westwood, but the ball ends up looping into the grateful arms of Howard. He tries to spark a counter, but Villa have numbers back.
Barry beats Benteke in the air, but Everton have no room in which to work. Villa can pick out Bacuna racing down their right. He cuts inside onto his left foot and sees a 25-yard drive deflected over the top.
Mirallas picked out wide on the right, but opts against a run against Luna. Distin allowed to wander forward from the back and look for Pienaar. He has Baines racing up alongside him, but a one-two ends up in the arms of Guzan.
Lukaku seen off by Baker as he looks to break down the middle. Solid defending. Weimann unable to get Villa going up top, with McCarthy fighting fires alongside Barry in the Everton midfield.
Positive run from Tonev as he cuts across the face of Everton's back four and in behind. He ends up going a fraction too soon and the flag goes up. Everton can play their way forward once more.
Benteke slides to keep the ball in play and is left holding his wrist. He should be okay to continue. Patient approach from Everton as they look to move through midfield.
Baines over the set-piece wide on the left. He bends the ball towards the penalty spot, but Guzan comes through the crowd to gather. He gets rid early and sends Agbonlahor racing forward. He ends up inside the box, but has to back-heel the ball to a yellow shirt in order to keep it in play.
Baines in space on the left, but the pass towards him forces him to check his run. Tonev then pulled up for a late challenge on Baines. He was high as well and is fortunate not to be booked.
Lively start to this contest. Both sides looking to create openings and stamp their authority on proceedings. Villa will be kicking themselves they aren't in front, but there will be many more chances to come if things stay as they are.
Stunning save from Howard to deny Benteke. The Villa striker goes hard and high to Howard's right, but the American sticks up a hand to divert the ball over the crossbar. The resulting corner comes to nothing.
Benteke freed into the box, in behind Coleman. The Everton man realises he is in trouble and ends up clipping Benteke's heels inside the box. Penalty to Villa.
Mirallas beats the offside trap and enters the box. He can't get a shot away first time and Luna tracks back to block his second effort. Villa then look down their left for Weimann, forcing Distin to come across and concede a throw.
Barry wins a free-kick on halfway, but it's taken too control and Westwood picks up possession. He tries to send a straight pass into the path of Benteke, but gets too much on it and runs through to Howard.
Everton prepared to play along their back four. Baines then fires a pass into the feet of Lukaku which the Belgian stands no chance of controlling. Villa sitting deep, not allowing the visitors any space.
Pienaar unable to keep the ball on the field down by the corner flag. Everton remain in possession, but a crossfield pass spread to the left by Jagielka slips beyong Pienaar again.
Luna wins a throw, which he sends backwards. Villa looking to get a foot on the ball early on. When they do long towards Benteke, he is unable to muscle his way past Jagielka. Intriguing tussles at both ends of the field this afternoon.
Villa on the front foot immediately, but Barry snaps into a challenge on Benteke on the edge of the box. Everton look wide to their right on the counter. Mirallas feeds over a dangerous cross, which Lukaku diverts wide off his knee.
Teams out into the arena. Everton in their garish yellow and blue away kit. Pre-match formalities under way. Great atmosphere inside the ground.

Everton, meanwhile, have won four and lost one of their last five - a record which can only be bettered by table-topping Arsenal.
Villa are still looking to add consistency to their game this season, but have suffered only one defeat in four to keep the top-half of the division well within reach.
