Aston Villa 0 Liverpool 1. All over and the visitors take the spoils. Back-to-back wins for them, successive defeats for Villa.
Sturridge trying to hold on to the ball, but can't. Pushing and shoving with Luna. Last chance for Villa to snatch something. El Ahmadi into Vlaar. Bacuna sends over a cross, Toure clears and then the flag goes up against Agbonlahor. That should be it.
Benteke helps a long ball on, but Toure can hack clear. Tonev then gets around Enrique, but puts far too much on his cross and the ball sails out for a throw on the other side of the field. Johnson taking his time.
Sturridge back on the deck. Liverpool in no hurry to get play going again. When they do Sturridge heads for the corner flag, but ends up running out of play. Still time for Villa.
Sturridge touches on for himself. He chases into the box, where Guzan comes to meet him. Sturridge goes down, but then bounces back up. Clattenburg gives nothing. Looking at it again, Guzan did get a hand to the ball.
Lucas tracks back with Agbonlahor, but puts in a challenge from behind which sends the Villa man sprawling. Lucas into the book. Tonev takes the free-kick. He goes for goal from 35-yards out, but fires well off target. Bit of a waste.
Sturridge all alone in the Villa half for Liverpool. He is joined by Henderson, who hooks over a cross. Allen there to touch on, but no-one has broken into the box.
Sturridge has two defenders at his back, but wins a throw. Relief for Liverpool. They can't keep hold of the ball and Benteke is picked out again on the edge of the box. No room in which to work.
Benteke draws a smart save from Mignolet. El Ahmadi able to win a free header and drop the ball into Benteke's path. His stinging volley is parried behind. Corner comes to nothing.
Space for Henderson to run into. He finds Gerrard, but his touch is a little heavy and he is left on the deck as Villa run the ball back across halfway.
Rodgers now looking a little nervous. He has looked to tighten things up, but needs his team to get hold of the ball and push Villa back. Hosts knocking on the door on a regular basis.
Final change for Villa. They have turned to towering frontman Helenius, who replaces Westwood. Second switch by Liverpool sees Allen sent on in place of Coutinho.
Tonev plays a pass into Sturridge, who finds himself in a right-back position. Villa come again and Enrique has to head anywhere as a dangerous cross is fired into the box. Liverpool offering nothing going forward.
Delph races after a ball played into space, but can't catch up with it and it rolls out of play. Villa looking for one golden opportunity. Can they carve one out?
Benteke goes down in the box claiming a push. Clattenburg not convinced. Toure was with him. He gave him a nudge, but nothing more. Benteke then flagged offside.
Okore pushing forward again, with Liverpool leaving just Sturridge up top. He is able to tee up Tonev, who works Mignolet with a low drive. The Liverpool keeper gets himself into a mess with Agger, and Villa win a corner.
Luna allowed to push on. He runs in a circle, but manages to escape Sturridge and cross. Liverpool deal with the delivery and Gerrard then fires a clearance into Luna and out for a throw.
Okore able to run the ball out for Villa. Liverpool sitting very deep. They are standing firm, with Gerrard crunching into another challenge on Tonev. The Reds aren't going to let their lead slip without a fight.
Cissokho tries to run around Bacuna, but the Villa man goes to ground to put in a tackle. Good strength from Cissokho who is a useful option to shore things up on the flanks.
Bacuna hangs a cross up for Benteke to challenge for. He is beaten in the air by Toure, but the ball drops for Agbonlahor. He sends a snap-shot inches wide of the upright.
Tonev straight into the action, but Enrique holds him off to earn a goal kick. Liverpool now struggling to get a foot on the ball. Lucas trips Delph on halfway. Westwood quick to take the free-kick, but Villa fail to threaten.
Another change for Villa. Weimann is the man to make way, with summer signing Tonev handed his home debut. Can he make the difference?
Bacuna with a cross which is swept in very flat. Weimann is able to get in front of his marker, but glances across the face of goal. Mignolet in no rush with another goal kick. Still a bit early to be running down the clock.
Benteke towers above everyone else to meet Westwood's corner. His powerful header is diverted narrowly off target. Mignolet takes forever with a goal kick. Home fans making Clattenburg aware of the time-wasting.
Guzan holding his back after clearing long. Might still be feeling that clash with Agger earlier. Villa working hard in front of him, with Henderson halted by Delph. Luna freed down the left, but Gerrard clears a cross in the middle. Corner.
Change for Liverpool now, with Cissokho handed his debut as Aspas makes way. Rodgers looking to tighten things up and hold on to what he has.
Enrique with a great ball down the left for Coutinho. He only has Aspas to aim at, and Vlaar has him well covered.
Brief sight of goal for El Ahmadi on the edge of the box. The door is soon slammed in his face by Gerrard. Captain leading by example for the visitors. They push forward through Coutinho. Henderson's cross is almost met by Vlaar sliding towards his own goal.
Agbonlahor's pace takes him past Toure, but he has to hook a cross into the box and can't control it. Villa settle for a throw. They have made an attacking switch and need to get their creative talents on the ball.
Luna decides to have a run at Henderson. He skips past him, but Johnson is there to come across and concede a throw. Chance for Villa to make their change, with Lowton making way for El Ahmadi.
Movement on the Villa bench. El Ahmadi is being readied. On the field, Agbonlahor goes wide to the right. Weimann is able to send a cross over, but Agger is behind it. Villa have pegged Liverpool back a bit.
Aspas with a nice touch into Johnson. The ball sits up, and he hammers a volley high into the crowd from 25 yards out. Villa back on the ball, but neither side can keep hold of it for long.
Lowton next to go into the book. He clatters into Coutinho after the ball has gone. He came in from the side and caught the Liverpool man knee-high. Free-kick taken short by Agger.
Westwood delivers. Not a great corner and the ball floats over the heads of those in the middle. Liverpool don't have enough men forward to counter at pace. They slow things down again.
Stats telling us that Villa have had nine attempts to Liverpool's four. Doesn't feel like that. The Reds have looked very comfortable. As I say that, Weimann slips down the right wing and wins a corner.
Delph does well to get across Henderson, but the Liverpool man refuses to give up. More of a battle now. Villa press with Agbonlahor. Westwood finds space, but another 30-yard drive fizzes well over the top.
Rodgers still looking calm on the sidelines. He isn't one to get overly-excited and will be aware that this game is far from won. Villa do, however, need to raise their game. Changes might help.
Better from Acuna as he wins the ball off Agger. Advantage played as Villa look to counter. Play then pulled back as Benteke fails to gather. Liverpool drag everyone back.
Westwood takes aim from distance, as a Lucas clearance falls his way. His effort is never on target and sails high into the stands. Mignolet hasn't been tested at all so far.
Really promising position for Villa, just left of centre. Plenty of willing takers. Liverpool take an age to retreat 10 yards. Clattenburg makes sure they do. Eventually, Bacuna fires into the wall.
Agger forced to trot off, but should be okay to continue. Guzan bounced back up. Goalkeepers are made of strong stuff! Villa push forward, but another pass ends up out of play. Agbonlahor, even with his pace, can't keep the ball on the field. He is, however, able to win a free-kick off Aspas 25 yards from goal.
Gerrard's corner is glanced to safety. The ball comes back his way, and he tries again. Guzan makes the decision early to come and punch. Agger is also looking for the ball and the pair collide. Agger appears to come off worse. He hit the deck hard.
Westwood looking for Bacuna, but Enrique cuts out the pass. Gerrard gathers on halfway, and has options. One is Sturridge, who dances to the byline and wins a corner off Vlaar - who slides in to block a cross.
Bacuna into Benteke. Toure is at his back and comes around the Villa striker. Benteke goes to ground, but is waved to his feet. At the other end, Okore does well to hold off Sturridge and play the ball off the Liverpool striker for a throw-in.
Lowton runs into Coutinho after conceding the throw. Clattenburg has a word with both. Handbags, really. Nothing in it. Play continues. Vlaar is able to get to a Gerrard pass down the channels before Aspas.
Bacuna with another wayward pass, which forces Villa backwards. He is soon involved again, looking the other way. Villa still unable to string passes together and end up conceding a throw.
Aspas skips into space, but the flag goes up. He was looking over his shoulder, rather than along the line, and went a fraction too soon. Okore just about held his ground.
Lowton beats Enrique for pace and is able to hook over a cross. Toure once again in the right place at the right time for Liverpool. Villa let the Reds off the hook again with a foul throw. Don't see too many of them.
Agbonlahor concedes another foul in the opening seconds of the half. Both managers only just taking to their seats. They will hope to have got a winning message across in the dressing room.
Qasim Suhail says: "Aston Villa haven't been as good as they can be. Liverpool have been dominating possession and when Aston Villa get the odd chance, they blow it. I expect Liverpool to go on and win this 3-1."
Chris Hadgkiss says: "Think we need to take off Bacuna and bring on El Ahmadi his passes to Benteke couldd prove the difference 2-1 Villa !!!"
Rob Davies says: "I'm a Liverpool fan, great how the game's going. I think Villa will come out of the blocks after half-time, otherwise they won't get anything out of the game. This will free up acres of space at the back for Villa, Liverpool to win 2-0. Come on the Reds! We're going top of the league!!"
Remember you can also bet in-play at Skybet.com. Villa are now 12/1 to take the spoils, with Liverpool 2/7 and the draw 4/1. You can get 4/1 on Liverpool to win 2-0.

Aston Villa 0 Liverpool 1. Sturridge's striker is the difference at the interval. The Reds have controlled proceedings. Villa are capable of much better.
Liverpool looking to run the clock down to half-time. Benteke won't let them and ends up drawing a foul from Johnson - who is cautioned. Westwood's set-piece is long towards Vlaar, who glances well wide.
Gerrard delivers. Not his best and Okore can volley to safety. Lucas looks to send the ball back to the right wing for Gerrard, but the Liverpool skipper goes too soon and is flagged offside. Tight call, but the right one.
Westwood's delivery is easily cleared. The ball ends up back with Guzan. Lambert still pointing and shouting. Rodgers a lot more relaxed. On the field, Henderson does really well to win a corner.
Benteke finds Agbonlahor. He bundles forward, but can't get a toe on the ball. It breaks to Weimann and he sees a deflected effort flash narrowly over the crossbar for a corner.
Bacuna drifts over halfway, and is fortunate to see a sloppy pass deflected back to him. He then decides to go back to Vlaar. Liverpool again drop everyone back and plug all gaps.
Mignolet comes for the resulting corner, and touches behind for another. Westwood delivers long, looking for Okore. He can't get anything on it and Sturridge wins a throw.
Lowton into Acuna, who is racing forward. He cuts inside Agger, but Toure comes sliding across to block his path. Villa win the first corner of the match. Benteke ends up gathering, spinning just inside the box and forcing Mignolet into a smart stop.
Frustration boils over for Delph as he comes clattering through the back of Sturridge. No surprise to see the Villa man go into the book. Delph does have a habit of picking up yellow cards. Expect this to be the first of many.
Lucas on the ball for Liverpool, and is allowed to ping passes into the feet of those in front of him. Villa not getting tight enough.
Benteke feels he is blocked by Agger as the ball breaks into the Liverpool box. Nothing given after Bacuna had tried to bundle his way through. Better possession from Villa, until Delph runs into Enrique.
Another wasted opportunity for Villa as Lowton and Weimann fail to make the most of a throw deep in Liverpool territory. Enrique is able to hammer long down field.
Weimann and Westwood trying to get something going, but Liverpool are holding their defensive shape well. Agbonlahor comes looking for the ball and ends up on the right wing.
Lowton plays an attempted one-two with Bacuna, but the return pass is far too heavy and Liverpool win a throw deep in their own half. Not happening for the hosts at the moment. They are soon back on the ball, but Liverpool have 10 men behind it.
Coutinho skipping past challenges once again. He always looks forward, but this time can't pick out Sturridge. He's an exciting player but maybe needs to realise that he doesn't have to provide a killer pass every time.
Henderson very wide again, offering an outlet. Villa chasing shadows a bit at the moment. Liverpool's experience in midfield shining through, as they play keep-ball.
Bacuna decides to try his luck from distance. He does well to skip inside onto his right foot, but he drags his shot badly and it skips harmlessly wide of Mignolet's goal.
Aspas spots Sturridge down the right, and finds him. He gets his head up, but only has Coutinho to aim at on the edge of the box. A difficult ball is easily cut out. Liverpool try again, with Henderson crossing into the arms of Guzan from wide on the right wing.
Delph squares up to Aspas, who goes into the book for a tackle from behind which caught the Villa midfielder on the knee. Back under way, and a pass looped towards Agbonlahor runs behind.
Coutinho spins away from Lowton and down the Liverpool left. He has support square of him. Gerrard then sends another pass out of play. Crossed wires with Aspas, who came short when the ball went long.
Space for Agger to move into. He decides to let Coutinho take over. He sends Sturridge wide, and his attempted back-heel comes to nothing. Liverpool have plenty of white shirts back to deal with a Villa counter.
Mignolet able to take a few touches after collecting a back-pass. He then fires long, before the ball is drilled straight back at him. Not a lot doing in the last few minutes.
Villa need to move up the field and start pressing inside the Liverpool half. They don't need to go chasing the game, but they need to raise the tempo. Liverpool being allowed to play at their own pace.
Delph feeds the ball down the Villa right into space, rather than towards a team-mate. Liverpool able to press again. Sturridge feeds a pass into the heart of the box, but Henderson can't get a telling touch as he cuts in front of Guzan.
Great run into space by Gerrard, as he ghosts in behind Luna. Coutinho sees him go, but has to fire a pass through a tight gap and ends up putting too much on it.
Gerrard takes the free-kick short. Johnson takes over, before Gerrard looks back to Agger. Liverpool in no hurry to get the ball forward.
Luna shown the first yellow card of the evening for a foul on Henderson. He caught the Liverpool man on the ankle.
Liverpool looking for Sturridge again. Guzan alive to the danger and is able to stroll to the edge of his box and pluck the ball out of the air.
GOAL LIVERPOOL - STURRIDGE. Great finish by Sturridge. Enrique feeds a pass towards Coutinho, who lets the ball run. Sturridge skips around Luna, then Guzan and pokes into the roof of the net with the outside of his left boot.
Benteke dominant in the air once more, but Toure is able to hook clear over his own head. Delph slows then game to walking pace. He is looking for movement, but hasn't got much to aim at. Villa forced to go sideways, before losing possession.
Coutinho able to feed a low delivery past Lowton, but not past Vlaar. Weimann runs Villa out and has others racing up with him. The ball is moved across the edge of the box, but Benteke is given no time to set his sights.
Sturridge into Countinho, but Lowton is snapping at his heels. Liverpool try to switch play, but once more Agbonlahor has tracked all the way back with Johnson. Doing a real job for the collective cause the Villa forward.
Guzan fires long downfield. Benteke unable to get anything on the ball on this occasion. The game needs a bit of a spark. Plenty of players out there capable of providing it.
Agbonlahor trying to be too clever, with Weimann running past a stray pass. Villa need to calm down and stop trying to force the issue when in possession. They can be patient and wait for gaps to open up. Good work by Enrique down the Liverpool left, but Coutinho curls well wide when teed up 20 yards out.
Liverpool now sitting off and letting the Villa back four have the ball. When the hosts come forward, Luna loses out and has to race back. Liverpool not looking to counter.
Westwood into the feet of Benteke, but his control lets him down and Johnson can fire long. Villa haven't enjoyed a prolonged spell of possession since the opening 60 seconds. They can work Weimann to the by-line here, but his cross is over-hit.
Vlaar cuts out another cross intended for Sturridge - from Henderson this time. Benteke then wins another physical battle up front for Villa. Liverpool get numbers back and Agbonlahor ends up conceding another free-kick. A bit too eager to get on the ball.
Toure over the top for Sturridge. He has slipped in between two defenders. He collects the ball, but has to go back to Johnson after being forced wide. He delivers a dangerous cross which Delph clears.
Agbonlahor barges into the back of Johnson as the ball bounces off the corner flag. Free-kick to Liverpool. Villa working hard in midfield to ensure that the Reds have no room in which to work.
Villa back on the ball, with Delph tripped by Lucas on halfway. Villa go short from the free-kick. Luna looking to push well forward when the opportunity arises - as he did at the Emirates.
Coutinho given space, but again Okore is in the right place for Villa. The hosts need to keep the ball better as they go long and give it straight back to Liverpool. Sturridge combines with Henderson on the edge of the box, but Luna cuts across the former and ends up winning a goal kick.
Enrique cuts inside from the left, but Okore is on hand to cut out a ball fired towards the box. Aspas gets involved again, with Johnson breaking past him. Agbonlahor has gone with him and is able to get a toe to an attempted shot. Throw-in to Liverpool.
Agger and Toure going sideways again. Villa prepared to sit off until the ball reaches halfway. Liverpool finally make it into Villa's half, but Coutinho has two men at his back.
Aspas drops deep to get involved, before Gerrard looks for Johnson on the right and sends a pass straight out of play. Rare bad pass from the Liverpool skipper. Gerrard soon back on the ball, but can't find the head of Henderson.
Benteke holds off Toure and brings Agbonlahor into play - great strength from the Villa striker. Agbonlahor shoots from the edge of the box, but the ball flicks up into the air and straight at Mignolet. Liverpool's turn to try and push forward again.
Patient build-up from Liverpool as they work their way out from the back. Agger then goes long, but fires straight at Delph. Ball ends up back with Johnson and the Reds start again.
Sturridge has movement ahead of him, but goes alone. Vlaar with a solid challenge. Liverpool remain on the front foot, with Aspas working a yard to drill a low cross into the arms of Guzan.
Lambert out early onto the touchline barking out instructions. First touch for Gerrard, into the feet of Sturridge. Liverpool look left, before Coutinho has his pocket picked by Delph.
Villa straight into their passing game, with Bacuna earning a throw down their right. Liverpool yet to get a touch. Agbonlahor skips down the left flank, but is blocked off by Toure.
Teams out into the stadium. Great reception from the home support. Pre-match formalities now under way. We are moments from kick-off. Pitch being given one last watering. Should help to slicken things up in the evening sunshine.

Juel is backing the visitors to take the points. He says: "Stevie G, Coutinho & Sturidge to over shadow the "Beast" at Villa Park. Come on you reds... YNWA."
Beautiful evening for football in the Midlands. The two teams should be with us shortly. Expecting goals, with both sides looking to play the game in the right manner. Could be the game of the day looking at some of the other results in the Premier League.
Jamie Eastwood doesn't see things being so open. He says: "I think it will be a close game and Coutinho and Aspas will be the men to watch for us. But it won't be as one sided as last week and can see a scrappy 2-1 Liverpool win."
Dave Birch is another expecting a goal-fest. He says: "I'm defiantly going for a home win, think our front 3 will run the Pool defence ragged. Loads of goals in an open game. 4-3 Villa. What price Sky offering for that?" To answer that question, you can get 150/1 at Sky Bet.
Paul Lambert tells Sky Sports prior to kick-off that 'confidence' is behind his side's impressive start to the season - with Villa looking like there should be no repeat of last season's relegation struggles.

Chris Gurrell thinks we could be in for a five-goal thriller. He says: "Kolo Toure and Danny Agger have a job keeping Benteke at bay today Chris, but they can't afford to forget about Weimann and Agbonlahor. Got a feeling Lucas will drop back more than usual as cover today. Gonna go for a 3-2 away win today, with Coutinho, Sturridge and Benteke all scoring. Come on the Reds!"
Prince Ebose has been in touch from Malaysia and sees the home side taking the spoils, saying: "The man to watch tonight is Monster Benteke. He wrecked Liverpool last season and I am sure he can still do it tonight. No Suarez to help threaten A. Villa. Villa 3 Liverpool 1."

Liverpool collected a narrow 1-0 win over Stoke on the opening weekend, so are up and running for 2013/14. They boast an enviable record at Villa Park and will be hoping for more joy this evening.
This is Villa's third game of the season, but their first on home soil. They have impressed against Arsenal and Chelsea so far, and will feel they should have more than three points to show for their efforts.
