Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero were both on target as Argentina ended a run of six straight draws to defeat Uruguay 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier.
Alfio Basile's side lie second in the South American qualifying group, having amassed 16 points from nine games, while Uruguay sit fifth in the 10-team standings.
Barcelona star Messi opened the scoring in Buenos Aires in the sixth minute, before highly-rated forward Aguero doubled the advantage seven minutes later.
Diego Lugano pulled one back for Uruguay just prior to the break, but the visitors were unable to restore parity before the game came to its conclusion.
