Tykes look for second win of the season

Barnsley welcome Cardiff to Oakwell on Tuesday with the home side looking to avoid a fifth league defeat of the season. The Tykes have recorded only three points after five games played and manager Simon Davey is eager to address that statistic. Davey saw his side defeat Derby on 30th August, but they have otherwise been forced to settle for defeat in the Championship and they find themselves sat in the early season relegation zone. Meanwhile, Dave Jones' Cardiff remain unbeaten in the league, but the Bluebirds will be keen to end a run of four successive draws since their opening day victory over Southampton.

Team news

Davey will be forced to do without the services of injured on-loan Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters as he looks for the firepower to down Cardiff. But Davey has been boosted by the news that winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce has recovered from an elbow injury and could make his first appearance of the season. Cardiff are again without injured midfield duo Ricardo Scimeca and Mark Kennedy. Scotland international Gavin Rae is, therefore, expected to start after recently returning to fitness. Top scorer Ross McCormack will lead the line alongside Jay Boothroyd as Cardiff look to end a run of two games without a goal.
