The Tykes have managed three wins, one draw and a defeat at home in the Championship so far this season, although they have not secured a victory in four games.
Forest, meanwhile, are the draw specialists of the division and Billy Davies' side have had seven stalemates in 10 matches so far.
Barnsley manager Mark Robins has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from for the game, with Jeronimo Neumann the only doubt due to a groin strain.
Kieran Trippier is back at Oakwell fully fit following international duty with England Under-21s.
Meanwhile, Robins is hoping Chris Wood will be ready to play alongside Garry O'Connor following his return from action with New Zealand.
